Why shouldn't he take this opportunity to move on and restore the mighty Villa to its former glory? Excellent opportunity for the European Cup-winner, and potentially glorious times for Villa ahead

Official statement from NCFC website:
The Club regrets to confirm that Paul Lambert has offered his resignation from his position as Norwich City Manager.
We have fought hard to keep Paul at Norwich City and have not accepted his resignation whilst discussions with another club are taking place.
However, whatever happens, we want to place on record our sincere gratitude for everything Paul has done for the Club over the last three fantastic seasons.

Sounds like it'll be sorted soon..

And Martinez staying at Wigan. What exactly does Martinez want? Or is he just being a diva?

Was Martinez actually offered any jobs to turn down? Dave Whelan will certainly say he was, 'cause it makes Wigan sound good, but certainly nothing to say Villa offered Martinez the job this time round (and even last time it was not clear)..

At least this one isn't ginger, and has a record of promotions rather than relegations.

Seemingly Lambert on a 1-year rolling contract, so Villa will probably just have to pay one year of his Norwich salary.

Now I know what you meant about Martinez "turning villa down" last year, it was made to seem like due to comments from Whelan. That guy looks to be a bit of a c**t.

True.
I suppose there is too much that is unknown. He could have not been offered one of those jobs because he was being too demanding. Or because he was not a good candidate in the end. Who knows.

Re: Next Villa Manager Poll #1746
It'll be funny if Martinez stays and Wigan finally fucking go down next season without their usual trick of being shit all year but winning a few games right at the end.
Then again, I've been expecting/hoping they'd go down for about 3 seasons now.

It would be funny if Norwich fans have the cheek to call him Judas, clearly oblivious to the fact that Lambert came to them in the same manner from the U's.

Every football fan has this kind of hypocrisy. No-one considers the players their club signs as judases for leaving their previous club, but they'll always slag them off when they move on. It's part of the irrational nature of being a fan..

Re: Next Villa Manager Poll #1746
Lambert will spend any budget he has on British or Irish players.
There is no chance that any of them won't settle, they'll all be able to communicate easily and they should ebcome a top 10 team due to his excellent motivational skills.
I wonder if MON was an influence when they were at Celtic
I prefer the Newcastle way because the players you buy have much more ability and are better to watch.

Re: Next Villa Manager Poll #1746
To be fair, Lambert has never been at a club where he's had much chance to shop abroad. At least wait and see.
It's no secret he's close with MON & shares similarities, but he did do his coaching badges in Germany & is also close with people like Hitzfeld, so I think he should have a broader outlook.

I agree. He played in Germany and competed in a CL final. I cant imagine he will be so narrowminded and look no further than Britain for new signings.

Seems Norwich getting Hughton as manager. So we've indirectly caused Birmingham to lose their manager again
