What a goal for Maiga. Beats one man dribbles 30+ yards, beats two more men, and curls it into the far corner, 4-1. Thanks for passing on him Newcastle!

Norwich - 1 Arsenal -0 HT.
That was the poorest we've played this season.Sluggish, sloppy and complacent.Norwich goal a howler from Mannone, and they could have scored a couple more.

Arsenal need a wide tricky player to come on and create more space Norwich are doing a good job closing down the gunners.

so at 1-0 down you have the best midfielder in England on the bench, and you bring on a 17-year-old Brown German?

FT 1 - 0. We got what we deserved - nothing. Absolutely, irredeemably poor performance by the whole team. It appears nothing has changed after all.

Giroud wasn't the problem today. Midfield and defence were appalling, Norwich were cutting through them with ease. What is the matter with Vermaelen?

Re: Premier League 20/21 October 2012
Really gutted about this defeat. A depressing feeling because not all of us can afford a £125mil attack (£205mil starting XI).
Errors cost us but that was likely to happen once we started fighting fire with fire against a side with heavier artillery.
One of my pet hates is when a manager picks a player out of position over a young player who is a natural in that area just because of seniority/bottling it - Jol, Redknapp, and now AVB are all guilty of this. I would have given Townsend the start over one of Dempsey & Sigurdsson who are essentially the same player.
Defoe was superb and Lennon was also impressive, but I actually think we should've put Ade on just after Defoe scored (which I'm sure wouldn't have gone down well with Jermain, but fuck it). We needed the outlet and without that we kept inviting the pressure on.
We've got bigger problems in midfield than our results up until yesterday would suggest. The passing, movement off the ball, interchanging of positions, especially short passing in the oppositions half, is really really poor. Has been most of the season, and today was always on the cards. Huddlestone looked well off the pace, perhaps understandably, but I think it was wrong to throw him in.
We made our bed in the transfer window (failure to secure Wilian & Moutinho) and we'll have to lie in it, but apart from the performance of Vertonghen/Lennon/Sandro/Defoe, there weren't many positives from the game today. Chelsea really overran us and looked like scoring most times they came forward.

Re: Premier League 20/21 October 2012
Sig was very good second half when he moved into a more left sided position, but strangely given it was such an asset last season - his finishing has been letting him down. I like him personally, top notch technique but lacks pace. We have to accept that players like Sig and Dempsey are what we can afford to sign currently. We can't compete for the like of hazard, Oscar and Mata who are a cut above.
However, all that said, on another day we could have won that game.created enough chances second half. Its not doom and gloom by any means.

Ba and Cisse can't play together, and Shola has the 2nd best scoring record in the derby in our history.
