5 year contract with one of the richest teams in the world is not something that any young player is going to sniff at.. maybe he'd get further staying at Porto. or maybe he'd fade out and never again get an offer like the one from Chelsea.

There are enough precedents already for him to know this has a real chance of setting his career back for years. I'm sure Kevin DeBruyne was delighted with his move there.

But yeah, if they want to take the first big offer that comes their way then so be it. There are many better situations with more than decent money to get yourself into rather than becoming a member of the Chelsea loan club.

Kimbo's point is still the most relevant though. This stockpiling / hoarding and then controlling where they can place players is not good in any way for the competitiveness of the league. It also continues the mad transfer price and wage inflation where even unestablished players are being put out of reach from the sort of teams they should be moving into because Chelsea want to take a punt on them turning out to be a star in 2 or 3 years time.

At what point will the Russian get bored and say enough is enough ?

Other than Lukaku who else has moved to another Premier League club from Chelsea on loan and had a good impact? Certainly not Moses.

    It's a none issue.

Chelsea didn't dictate where Lukaku went either, he could of gone to West Brom but it was his choice to move to Everton.

Moses is a great example actually

I'm sure he is having a great time moving from Chelsea's bench to Liverpool's bench. His move from Wigan really has worked a treat for him

Djemba Ba. Found his level for Newcastle and then got plucked away to sit on the bench for Chelsea. At least he hasn't made it to the loan club yet I suppose but that will probably come next year when Lukaku returns.

Marko Marin - hyped by our fellow Germans, hasn't been seen once

They've just had to sell Juan Mata because they couldn't get him in the team. Any kid that goes there is crazy !!

Once again though the players make those choices and are never forced into anything. We've been guilty of signing players only to loan them out - Assaidi, Aquilani and Borini are 3 examples. Illori was signed and there's talks he's being loaned out without even kicking a ball for us.

I'm not so concerned about the players, they're being well compensated. My main problem is what it does for the competition. Demba Ba is a good example, he was a star player here, then Chelsea decided they wanted him(but not really) and that was that, I don't really know why they signed him as they still preferred Torres. How many of these players could do a job or be star players for midtable or bottom half teams? It's like sharing a buffet with a large pig(not me coater), you're halfway through your 2nd sausage roll and it has already eaten half the table and is shitting it out in the middle of the room.

I would just get rid of the loan system completely tbh, it might force us to actually buy players.

but really how much did De Bruyne set back his career? moved to Chelsea 18 months ago, had a successful year on loan in Germany, a frustrating half-season on the bench and now a permanent move to Germany. he didn't lose his place in national team & has probably made a shitload of money from it & he's only 22. not exactly career-ending.

Cattermole to Stoke seems just about perfect match of player & club.
