Premier League Midweek Fixtures 29/30 January 2013

Szczesny bailed out after missing a corner - itself following on from a poor Mertesacker pass. If we were an Italian side you'd assume they'd been paid to throw the game, it's ridiculous how many stupid individual errors we are guilty of committing. Frustrating because we're looking quite dangerous going forward, but we're not making Liverpool do anything of note to create dangerous chances.

Appalling defending, appalling goalkeeping, and Liverpool really should have extended their lead. I have low expectations of Arsenal's defence, but they have been even worse than those dismal standards today. Very dispiriting so far.

Fail to turn up for the first half? Check. All going to plan so far. Norwich deservedly in the lead - it's a windy night and we can't deal with their long balls into the box.

Hopefully for us there is a second half performance left in the tank.

Dropping points tonight would be rather poor, given Everton and Liverpool now leading and hot on our heels.

We do tend to improve in the second half, so from our perspective, hopefully so. I can't understand why we have been so woeful early on in so many big games this season but they look completely off the pace. It's ridiculous; one nil down today after five minutes; 2-0 down against Chelsea after 16 minutes; 0-1 down, a man sent off, and a penalty conceded against Man City after 21 minutes; 0-1 down after 10 minutes against Spurs (but bailed out by Adebayor); 1-0 down after three minutes against Man Utd. Whilst there is a paucity of individual ability there, the problem is more a 'system' that is completely dysfunctional.

Just saw Baines strike for 1:0, great finish and great off the ball movement for him.

Looked like he came in on the left as an 11 and Bale pushed forward. Don't think that is where he will stay. His work rate and movement looked natural for this league, moved the ball quickly which is key when trying to break down physical defensive teams like Norwich
