Steve Peters has been working with Liverpool all season and the players praised him lots there so it was a no brainer for Hodge to take him with Englandpool.

Easier to score if you put the psychiatrist in goal rather than a proper goalkeeper

Like everything if you practise penalties you get better at them.

Yeh, but usually a team practice penalties like 1 or 2 days before a knock-out game.

Well.. Most haven't lost every world cup penalty shoot out ever.

Chris Smalling is awful by the way. How both him and Jones are there I don't know. Rooney has been poor again too.

Yeah the team that loses the penalty shoot-out. The winners probably practise for weeks.

It's frustrating that at a time when England have some genuinely exciting young players available the coach is Hodgson. Hodgson probably would have done well in 2010 with the likes of Upson and Heskey but now? England really needed someone like Rodgers, Martinez etc

You're not missing much, England are very poor in defence (pretty much all of them), poor in midfield (particularly wilshire, but lampard will take the blame), and ok up front (except for rooney, who incidentally is only 10 goals from being England's highest scorer ever  Very Happy )

Only players that should even be considered for the A team are the ox and barkley

Thing is.. It seems stupid to play a completely experimental defence. I think Shaw would be fine alongside the regulars. But next to Smalling and Jones.. It's too much at once and they've looked a shambles.

And why the fuck aren't we seeing Sterling?

Hard to justify playing Rooney these days, not really any more threatening than Lambert or Sturridge as a striker, probably not as good as Barkley behind the striker, not as good out wide as Chamberlain, Lallana, and possibly Sterling.
