Island
They defended very well in the second half. I wish I had seen the entire game. A friend of mine predicted that Island would do well and that this would be a big game. If only I had listened. It was surprising to see some of the combinations by Island. Very impressive and I guess they are following the positive trends from their last qualifier.

Poland - Scotland 2:2.
Very entertaining match, with high quality goals scored by Maloney and Milik. Plus Naismith once again proved his poaching instincts.
Once again Mila had a huge impact coming from bench, he had amazing play near the end, first playing ball between opponent legs and next sending perfect through ball... but Grosicki hit the post .

FFS Germany, this isn't helping us qualify. Our best chance is for them to win all their games and hope we can sneak ahead of Ireland and Poland.

Crikey, the Brit and Irish Shite isn't so shite this year so far. Amazing results - Northern Ireland beating Greece in Greece is quite incredible. So many upsets in these qualifiers already, the only group which is boring is fuck is England's

Re: Euro 2016 Qualifiers
yeah superb result for N.Ireland - if they can get results at home now, they'll be going through as they've won 2 of their toughest away ones. and a great point for Republic too. they got Scotland away next month.
I'm far from sure the expansion was a good idea but maybe it is making smaller teams step up their game as they now believe they should be qualifying. a lot of unfamiliar names topping their groups over more fancied ones - Iceland, Slovakia, Wales, N.Ireland, Austria, even Albania ffs (though that one is a bit of a weird group). very early days, of course..
also, I wonder if it's coincidence that almost all the European countries who did best at the world cup are struggling in qualifying (Germany, Netherlands, Swiss, Greece).
Who'd've thunk there'd be trouble in Serbia vs Albania

Re: Euro 2016 Qualifiers
Pretty dire from Germany. 53-8 (mostly harmless) shots in the last two games, but only one goal. Today they were practically begging the Irish to equalize in the last 5-10 minutes. Very odd.
Well, at least they have a year now to get a proper team together. The return games against Poland, Scotland, and Ireland aren't until next fall. Until then, it should be 9 easy points and about +15 GD vs Gibraltar twice and Georgia.
Man, I miss Lahm and Schweinsteiger.

Re: Euro 2016 Qualifiers
People wont want to admit it publically, but the scenes between Albania and Serbia are what make this sport so wonderful. Unsanitized, raw emotion. In this case, out of control. And all the more entertaining because of it.

Re: Euro 2016 Qualifiers
Given we can all agree how SHITE the EPL has been in Europe this season, the unfolding scenario in the Euros offers some interesting contradictory evidence for consideration -
England, Wales - almost exclusively players plying their trade in England- top their respective groups.
Northern Ireland are just 1 point off the top behind Romania in theirs.
Scotland meanwhile are on the same number of points as Germany. Republic are still in with a chance too.
There is a high chance there will be at least 3 nations from the British Isles at a major tournament. Something that has not happened in many, many, many years.
Which begs the question - is the EPL really that bad? Doesn't seem to be hindering the performances of the British nations whichever way you look at it. Perhaps the problem is LESS the Britfags, and MORE the overrated overseas SHITE, like the Dutch Computer Generated Brigade. What do you reckon Fey?

Now imagine Euro goes from 24 to 48 participants. There would be an all time high in British participants then

Re: Euro 2016 Qualifiers
Let's see how good the British teams are when it really matters (In the actual tournament). That's the only way to accuratley judge national teams outside the rigorous South American World Cup qualifiers. Too much Euro-shite in the Euro qualifying.

Re: Euro 2016 Qualifiers
Sure. One step at a time though. Countries like Wales and Northern Ireland even making it to a tournament is some feat. Assuming they do of course.
Anne, Scotlands win over Gibraltar is not really what I was specifically alluding to, Wales topping Belgium and Bosnia's group including gerting a deserved draw in Belgium ; Northern Ireland winning away in Eastern Europe twice - they are both set up with home games and in a position nobody can have expected up to this point.

Perú vs. Germany on June 7, 2015 in Lima-Perú
Revenge for our Brasil brothers (last WC) and also for ourselves when we experienced this joke: shit loads of our goal unjustly disallowed, we are still winning the match and the English ref decides to cancel the match at the death because he thought "the pitch was too big". Hitler said let's play again "until my team win" and we just packed our shite and left Germany. Several American countries followed us when we left that joke. TFS!
http://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2011/nov/24/forgotten-story-football-1936-olympics
This team won't be Perú "C" like when we played England last year. We are playing with the best available players.
Perú SHALL utterly destroy Germany in Lima just like when Alianza Lima demolished Bayern Munich (Beckembauer, Muller, Hoeness, Meier, etc.) 4-1 in 1975.
