Rested. Played 2 games for stupid England and has 5 games in the space of two weeks so I'm sure Rodgers would rather have him fit for Ludogorets on Tuesday.

this is the most Rodgers signings I remember seeing in the starting XI. 3 of the back 4 and 3 of the front 3 signed this summer.

Really looking forward to seeing how Lallana and Markovic do today - 45 million combined. You pay that money so when the likes of Sturridge and Sterling don't make it they can come in.

From a Spurs perspective: clear parrallels to be drawn from a performance like that with Liverpool in terms of Rodgers' first season in charge where they were domimating games, hitting posts etc but still dropping points. One of the most one sided draws Ive watched in awhile, but despite the improvements in the system (lots of possession and chances) , both the final third finishing and comic defending are not good enough...yet. Pochettino's style is very similar to Rodgers so it makes sense their will be similar growing pains. More heartened then disappointed at the fact that we look to have a competent coach in charge and it shows, the results should follow with time.

Sunderland are also not a bad side at all these days, they were hardly in it today but have enough quality to punish shite defending. Johnsons goal was lovely

Yeah well, when you go into the season effectively starting with a defensive crisis a single injury will do that to you. If we aren't going to sack Wenger we desperately need a director of football.

Good to see just as Luis predicted Liverpool not at all struggling with juggling their squad now that they are in more than 1 competition.
