I just saw Dein's statement that Wenger has spent a net of 50 million pounds in 10 years. Awesome record.

At the risk of being attacked by the gooners, i dont think he`s won that much. He`s done well cos he didnt waste alot of money and he`s bought young talent to the club. But do you think if he was at a big club he would have lasted so long ?

One of the best traits of many English clubs is to give the manager time to get results. Fergie didnt league title till his sixth or seventh season at helm. However that doesnt make him any less of a manager.
Another thing which is not listed out in the trophy list is the fact that in the 10 seasons he has finished second or above in 8 of those. Last season he had his worst ever result by finishing fourth.
BTW LSR I believe your club were very much interested in him taking over. But he didnt want to be part of the circus there.

Yeh but remember he has made Arsenal into the countries second most successful team in the last 8 years, a huge achievment when there are, as you say, a few bigger clubs than Arsenal in the Premiership.

No, in fairness he has been a revelation.
He has won plenty of silverware for a club who have never had the financial clout of Liverpool and Arsenal,
most importantly though, over the titles, is the style and brand of football he has brought with him.
this is the man who had Tony Adams volleying in winners from outside the box- the man who took the most boring team in England and turned them into arguably the most exciting.
Great coach

He has done well with Arsenal , he complishments are great but I heard Dein saying that he Arsenal wants Arsene for life , do people not think that is a bit overboard because if not now over the like of 5 years Arsenal(any club) could do with a change maybe by then Arsene would have taken Arsenal as far as he could and time for him to face new challenges just my opinion.

i know Arsenal fans would like this, but he hasn't done that much in Ten years in terms of winning titles.
he has never won the Prem Back-to-back which is the hall mark of a great team and manager. if he was in europe he would Probably have been sack already

Everyone knows that he has not won the league back to back. But three titles in ten years is a good return for me, taking into account the squad he inherited, the resources available over the season and the strength of competition. What do you expect him to do win nine in a row like Rangers did? It is not happening.Messiah wrote:i know Arsenal fans would like this, but he hasn't done that much in Ten years in terms of winning titles.

In Wengers time at Arsenal, Barcelona have won one more title that us. Is 4 titles in 10 years great in winning titles, of course it is because of the competition in La Liga.
1997 Real Madrid
1998 FC Barcelona
1999 FC Barcelona
2000 Deportivo
2001 Real Madrid
2002 Valencia CF
2003 Real Madrid
2004 Valencia CF
2005 FC Barcelona
2006 FC Barcelona
So your comment =

dude what’s with the hostilities i was just stating a simple opinion, he has done great with the resources at hand, but it still doesn't mean he could not have done better. And that if he was in Europe he would have probably been sacked

hes won 5 major trophies in 10 years, introduced new training methods aswell as diets, through his and Arsenal's success they are now playing in a new 60,000 stadium. Gone a season unbeaten, wants to play fast tempo highly attractive incisive passing football not to mention reaching a champions league final and bred stars such as Vieira, Henry, Cole, Pires to name a few. All for 50million pounds ?
Sounds like hes done a good job to me

Wenger has been a legend for us.
We were behind Liverpool, Man Utd, Leeds and Newcastle when he joined us in terms of club size and he has transformed us into one of Europe's top sides and all that during a period in which we have been skimping and saving to fund our move to the new stadium.
What more could you ask from the man?
And Messiah's comment are complete bullshit! Why would he hav been sacked if he'd done that at a club in another country?
Arsenal at the time he took over were similar in size to what Lazio were - if a coach had led Lazio to what Wenger has then there is NO way the guy would have been sacked

well if you put it that way then maybe not, but if he was managing a Big Club for 10 years and only one 3 League Title he would PROBABLY have been sacked

The club wasnt, a candidate was. Dont get me wrong im not saying he`s not good or anything, i think he`s done a great job at Arsenal, im just saying i dont think we would have lasted so long at a bigger club. I guess thats a good thing in english football, they tend to give managers alot more time.
