The question wasnt what would you do to accomodate the new player you want. But i'd ship them out.BilalShah wrote:and what would you do with Ballack and Lampard.

And then if we were allowed another player, then I'd take Ledley King to play alongside John Terry at the back:

J Cole------------Cesc Fabregas---Michael Essien----------Arjen Robben

Boulahrouz is wasted on the right, he is most useful in the central defence.
Seriously, I'd prefer a
J. Cole - Ballack - Makalele - Robben
midfield (in a 4-4-2), although I like Cesc and Essien. This way, you have one of the best DMCs, two excellent wingers and one of the most dangerous attacking midfielders. This midfield is more balanced, and definitely stronger, not just physically.

in a 442 Ballack and Essien are perfect partners ,both can attack and both can defend.

Cesc wouldn't work with Essien - I said as much earlier.
Eboué is a good call for Chelsea though (although realistically henry would be the best)

Depends on the 4-4-2 though. In a diamond, I'd prefer Makalele. But if both Ballack and Essien have a defensive role to fill, Essien would be the better choice indeed.

I think managers nowadays wouldn't play two midfielders that can defend and attack, they prefer dedicated players.
Essien is fantastic in a 3 man midfield but not as great in a 442 - although he would still be phenomenal.
so in a 442 I would say Maka and Ballack and in a 451 I would say maka, Essien and ballack

In the World cup it was Essien and Appiah in the centre. They performed outstandingly. Essien was awesome at points and is a world class CMTweedledum wrote:I think managers nowadays wouldn't play two midfielders that can defend and attack, they prefer dedicated players.

Why will that midfield not work? It has wingers/Side midfielders who can get forward and back, Essien adds Balance, Fabregas adds marvelous passing. Why wouldnt it work?BilalShah wrote:Ballack wrote:The question wasnt what would you do to accomodate the new player you want. Actually I dont think Gerrard is the one we would want , b/c I dont see a midfield of Gerrard Scholes or Gerrard Carrick or Gerrard Carrick Scholes working as well as if you put someone like Maka or Essien in there.

@Ballack
Cesc doesnt help out in defense , hes a deep lying play maker and has no physcial presence you will be outfought in midfield.

Have you seen Essien? Essien would do all of that. He is a tough tackler, and is a great ball retainer.BilalShah wrote:@Ballack

Essien is a very good player , but he is not a classic DMC , he also likes to attack and I think him and Cesc will be caught in the midfield.

Maka and Cesc would work better then Essien and Cesc IMO.

Good Point. Although the Old Partnership of Keane and Scholes (prior to Keane reaching 30) was very similar to that of the Fabregas Essien. Keane=Essien, and Scholes= a lesser version, meaning not as much scoring as Fabregas. That is one fault with Cesc, doesnt find the net nearly as much as he should.

Scholes also had a more physical presence then Cesc , ok his tackling was/is horrifying but he could mark players better then Cesc.

Remember Cesc is only 19. He has so much time to learn the trade, and surely playing alongside someone like Gilberto will help mature him. His presence in Europe is immense, he can split back lines with such penetrating passes that its sometimes amazing how he did that.

He will be very good , but at the moment Chelsea midfield is very good so you dont need him , much better taking Eboue as Boula is a better CB.
Even CR7 would be good for you guys.

Gerrard would be pointless. We already have enough attacking midfielders in Scholes, Carrick, Ronaldo, Giggs and Park. Essien would be just perfect.
Ronaldo, Essien then 2 from Scholes, Carrick or Giggs.

Not sure on that, Cesc is pretty good at marking, he may not have the pace that Scholes had but he can sure tackle better.

Yeh i didnt think it meant we need him now, hes just a player i'd like to see at the club. To be honest (and i dont want to sound arrogant) but we have a pretty much perfect team now as it is...BilalShah wrote:He will be very good , but at the moment Chelsea midfield is very good so you dont need him , much better taking Eboue as Boula is a better CB.

Nah pace and energy from the middle of the pitch is exactly what we need, you saw how much better we were when giggs played there. him and carrick together would be alright. id prefer essien to him though.

Perhaps lrd but against the likes of Chelsea where in the opposition midfield consists of Ballack Essien and Maka we would lack a physcial presence , a ball winner.

I don't think Carrick and Gerrard would work. It would be just like Alonso and Gerrard which Rafa doesn't even use much.
