If you could sign only one player

Perhaps this has been done before but let's do it again as opinions are sure to have changed, if you could sign only one player for your club who would it be? don't just say the typical 'ronaldinho, Kaka' etc without thinking, really think about what position you need a player for and how big a difference that player would make.

Berbatov.

Even though I think Eto'o, Drogba and Henry are better strikers, I think Berbatov would fit into our team like a glove.

Cantona like.

Assuming that we aren't going to sell I'd get C. Ronaldo.

We desperately need someone better than Hleb and we also need a goalscoring midfielder - someone that is more direct. Ronaldo ticks all of these boxes.

Quaresma.
We need a direct, skillful, goal scoring winger that can play either left or right wing.

We need a playmaker in our squad, which he really lack, aswell as a goal scoring midfielder.

It's difficult for Liverpool, I would say Ronaldo but he can't play on the left, even if we had him on the right we would still be weak on the left

It would mean Masch or Alonso would miss out and I don't think that would help the team, because Benitez couldn't leave Alonso on the bech for most of the season, Alonso and Gerrard doesnt realy work.

Quaresma has better shooting and crossing technique. He looks as though he would be able to play in our passing moves unlike like C.ronaldo. and most importantly he has a better name.

I think Ronaldo would be better than Kaka on the left. What your team needs on the left is someone like Robben.

With Becks leaving, we have nobody for the right side of midfield. Kaka would be great but if Capello continues he is not going to break up the doble pivote and so if Kaka were to come he'd either have to play on one of the wings (a waste) or Capello would have to drop one of the two forward players. So my opinion is right wing will be the biggest need this offseason -- so Cristiano Ronaldo.

I reckon he would do a great job there and he can play at right-back and centre back as well, all three positions in which we are $h!t.

Essien is definately more versatile

we need a right winger and i think ronaldo would be perfect but quaresma has the same things and is better at crosses and is cheaper so it would prob be him.

Drogba. Shades it over Eto'o for me as he's proven in the Prem and would weaken a direct competitor if he came to us.

Lahm or Michael Dawson/Woodgate.

Probably Lahm as there is a lack of good left backs around, and Woodgate will be available next summer when Boro go down anyway.
