SWP will never be a great player. Lennon is ten times a better talent - the main thing he needs to work on is not his crossing as most people say , but his finishing. If he works on that then he will be a hell lot of a player.

Has Lennon done with Spurs what SWP did with city , Lennon may be a better talent but still has lot to prove on the other hand SWP on the basis of his City's performances could be said to be a good player lost his way.
(where's Sgoater these days ,I want to hear his thoughts on this).

Got to agree. And Ive never thought when I watched SWP that he is purely a pace merchant. Seen enough of those to know what on elooks like. SWP is more canny than that, just lost his way.

Can no one remember the brilliance of some of mazy runs and goals? The one against Arsenal, Man U, the one hs scored against Ukraine for England,

, we talk about players who havent really proved themselves all the time on here, who go missing in big games- well SWP has scored some big goals against the top clubs when he was at Man City. And even at Chelsea he hasnt been completely useless- that cross for Crespos' goal against Betis at the bridge had to be one of the crosses of the season last year.

Inferior to Super Len, not by much, but better than Pennant (judged on his performances for Man City). Thats where Id put the lad

    Pennant > SWP.

SWP has the edge for pace - but Pennant is a better footballing talent - better technically, superior passer, crosser etc...

As much as people are questioning him now - he's still shown more Promise for Liverpool than SWP has at Chelsea - and he cost a third of the price.

And he may be more of a talent (as you say) but what have he ever done in the premiership at Arsenal , Leeds , Birmingham or now at Liverpool.
How many games he won for his team.
SWP on the other hand , was the sole attacking threat for City at one time.

Birmingham's sole bright spot in the last 18 months...

SWP still had Anelka - and to some extent, the drive & grit of Joey Barton around him.

In fairness, Pennant weas Birminghams stand out player, as was he at Leeds for most of the time he was there. He didnt achieve much at Arsenal granted.

Im just not sure about Pennant, because for all his undoubted ability he doesnt seem to have that drive to fulfill it. Often looks like he cant be bothered. SWP has struggled at Chelsea, but thats down to playing so few games at Chelsea. At Man City he seemed to be much more on the way to fulfilling his potential than Pennant. Just seems to have a better attitude in my opinion, although could argue he should leave chelsea if he really wants to fulfil his ambitions, but equally staying may prove he is determined to make a name for himself there...

SWP is not a bad player , may be not the best but a pretty dfecent one , in another club he may find his way and still turn out good (he is not just a pace merchant like peple are suggesting)
At one point I remember at United forums , fans were soo keen to have him(he was a city player so was impossible , he perhaps had to live in OT if that happened).
I still think he would be a good player for us , a very good cover for Ronaldo or strating when Ronnie plays the lw.
