Ofcourse, it's a different country innit.
It is?
I really should update my globe. It still has 'Prussia' and 'Asia Minor' written on it, and Britain is approximately the same size as China...
No surprises about Henry - most of the voters will have been kids who don't even remember 1992. Just like Robbie Williams won 'song of the millenium' and Little Britain won 'best comedy catchphrase'.
What exactly is everyone's problem with Henry? Best striker in the prem for the past eight? seasons now, and still you people are whining on "wah wah he's crap in Europe"(despite being the fourth all time top scorer in the CL), "wah wah he's crap for France" (second top scorer ever).
Maybe you should stop whining and accept that he's a fucking damn good player?
Eight seasons????
Are you fucking mental?

Usually it's a combination of disgust at the hype, his ability to get away with cheating because of his reputation, and his obvious arrogance. And perhaps a bit of jealousy.
Best striker in the prem for the past eight? seasons now,
Are you seriously claiming that in 1999 Henry was the best striker in the league?
and still you people are whining on "wah wah he's crap in Europe"(despite being the fourth all time top scorer in the CL),
Primarily in group stages against weak opposition. Until last season, Henry very much blew hot and cold in Europe. And even last season he was woeful in the final, albeit great before then.
"wah wah he's crap for France" (second top scorer ever).
He's been to three World Cups and starred in none. He got sent off in one and directly contributed to his team's failure to progress. He was good in Euro 2000 but poor in 2004, and at the last World Cup he had another inconsistent tournament, despite having a peak season for Arsenal.
Maybe you should stop whining and accept that he's a fucking damn good player?
He is. But he's not the best from another country ever to play in the Premiership. That would be Claus Lundekvam (forgotten due to being in a Championship team and therefore unfairly excluded from the voting).

@TS
Good point, I think 2003 was the year where people started to consider him to be the best in the League and a World Class player.
2001-2002 was the season where he started to really show his striking prowess, he scored 24 in the League that season.

Hasselbaink as well. Just checked the top premiership records. JFH's record is just awesome.
Anyway, people say Henry never cut it for France. He is a hell of a lot better than Cantona or Ginola were.

However, Cantona played three games in Euro 1992. Was a great help in getting past the qualifiers. Not.

Yes, I'll blame Deschamps, possibly one of our two best players during 1998 and 2000.
I'll just blame Ginola the poncy git.

Bear in mind the same is true of Arsenal/Chelsea/Liverpool fans where Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo (future best foreigner in the Premiership methinks) are concerned.

Yes his stats are better but that's not surprising because:
1) cantona was the main penalty taker for france, have u ever seen henry score a penalty for them? i've seen it once, against italy in the quater finals of the world cup but that's not even counted as part of one's international goals.
2) Henry played about 30 odd games as a winger and has mostly played for them as a second striker

Looking at the first point of your last post mate. True, I'd love Ronaldo in our team and would gladly take him, but I'm not sure at this moment in time (and bear in mind I'm talking about the present here, not the future) Rooney would get in ahead of Drogba and possibly wouldn't get in ahead of Sheva (especially if Sheva starts to score some goals soon)

Fair enough. In that case he's had three great seasons in Europe in maybe 10 years. I maintain that he blows hot and cold, but so does Raul (similarly highly ranked scorer).

Calling his position a winger is a bit like calling Cristiano Ronaldo's present position a winger i.e. neither are touchline jockeys. He has always been a goalscorer...

Rooney wouldn't on present form, certainly. Besides, he wouldn't be in the team instead of Sheva or Drogba, he'd be in the team instead of Cole or Robben, as a supporting forward.
I'd be amazed if any Premiership fan wouldn't take Ronaldo at the moment. Best player in the league on recent form, I reckon.
