Re: Best Supported European Clubs?
Barça have 150,000 members which pay 145€ per year (so it's not a joke membership), more than half the population of Newcastle!

3 years wait! I suppose the people applying 3 years back are happy about that now, seeing as they missed nothing of note.

Here the waiting list to get a season ticket is HUGE as well, can't say how long but I'm guessing about 3+ years to get a seat. But you can become a soci without a seat, hence the 150,000+ socis that Barça have.
Now, we might not fill our ground week in week out but 150,000 people who pay about 100 quid per year to be a member must mean something.

It could be worse, we could have gone 5 years without winning anything like a certain team did
It the same here too Cule, you be a socio but not have a seat.

'cos people are underinformed on this issue. We sell out every game pretty much. Just we have to advertise to do it vs poor teams. Then there are high profile times when we dont sell out (Bremen 06, Anderlecht 05) and it gives people a reason to spout rubbish.
Incidentally: historically our support >>> Newcastle's.

Re: Best Supported European Clubs?
Best supported in numbers is Barça by FAR.
Best supported in terms of loyalty and all that shit is CELTIC FC, playing in a shit league but still sell out home & away.
IMHO Celtic fans are the best in Europe closely followed by Dortmund.
Barça fans are probably the worst having such an awesome team but making less noise than borocooper at the Riverside stadium.

Re: Best Supported European Clubs?
I'd find it more depressing being a Boca Juniors fan than a Celtic fan to be honest Cule.
Imagine the situation - every season you know you're going to sell your best players, your heroes, and see almost none of the paltry amounts (by european standards) of cash you receive for them reinvested into the club. Then you produce another wonderkid - or on a rare occasion such as Palacio, buy one - only to realise that they'll be sold for the same paltry amount next transfer window.
Depressing, yet La Bombonera always seems packed to the rafters with crazy fans, and filled with colour.

Don't you think it's more depressing having the best players, an amazing history with legends like Cruijff,Maradona etc.. and currently winning the league and CL with a crowd that's more silent than the library of school?

That's true, but it would piss me off no end to see all my favourite players sold each summer...
Imagine you selling Iniesta and Xavi this summer, then Messi next, then Dos Santos after that etc etc
A long, continuous pattern of your best and favourite players being sold year after year...
... Though I guess seeing them all poached by Wenger can't be great either

Annoying more like. It has to be said, your crowd sounds pathetic on TV, but I've always assumed it's the coverage. You can barely hear anything other than a few claps though. Sounds like a training session or a reserve game.

It is in most games. But when the crowd wants to make noise we do. Like against Chelsea last season, everyone singing "Vete al Teatroo, Mourinho vete al teatrooooo, vete al teatrooooo,Mourinho vete al teatroooooo"!
Although we do the best mosaics and stuff, last season against Madrid (I was in the part with the senyera (the catalan flag), Milan and in the final).
This video from the Arsenal stand, listen to what they say:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Iidfg5sUk4
The Camp Nou is crap because it's full of old people who eat "pipas" and smoke cigars. But when Barça win you can't compare it to any team in the world, last season about 1,000 people in canaletes after we beat Madrid 0- 3 (in November), I talked to some britts there and they were amazed.

Re: Best Supported European Clubs?
After Arsenal scored I was downing my pint at a speed which I've never done. So fucking nervous, every foul I was up from my seat (in the pub) shouting.
But after the win it was just madness, got showered in champagne by some mates and when the champagne ran out they showered me and other with beer (the cheapest you can buy here, typical catalan ). The walk from the pub to canaletes was awesome, everyone singing, cars horning all the time, the city went mad.
Hopefully these days will happen again next May

Re: Best Supported European Clubs?
When Arsenal scored I was a bit shocked and slightly angry because of the dive...as the game went on I began to slump more and more into my seat, by the 70th minute I was despairing. I remember seeing Belletti coming on and the Arsenal fans saying how he'll add more width, and even then I was thinking to myself "screw width, we need some magic somehow".
A few minutes later we were jumping up and down faster than this

When Belletti score the whole pub was jumping, I was hugging random people and some icelandic birds, what a moment that was. I'll never forget it.

Celtic are in the top ten best supported clubs in Europe with an average home gate of around 58,000
