He only played about 25 - 30 games I think.

Thats his only redeming feature, he gets a few goals.

Not saying he is better, but wouldnt say routledge is better either, both need to be playing regular football if they want to get anywhere.

I don't understand where all this anti-Ashton bollocks is coming from. Just because hes been a bit of a journeyman doesn't mean that he ain't good.

And Lennon is quality as well - doesn't warrant replacing Gerrard but if Gerrard is playing elsewhere he should be in the squad.

I like Ashton, i'm just pointing out the double standards. One player needs to be established before he can be hyped but another doesn't.

I think it's the circumstances.

England a so short of good targetmen - so Ashotn will naturally be championed more than a player like Steven Taylor, as England are well stocked with good Centerbacks - including even Terry

I have to admit i'm yet to see the whole Routledge hype - he looked good at Palace but nothing amazing.

And when Lennon comes back what then?

Will he cease to get played?

Do you think he could do with being loaned out to someone like Watford?

No he wasn't - tricks & skills into the corner flag. And he couldn't cross for shit either. Where is he now?? he was in the U20's. You know what that is? The U21 B-team.

Routledge has a genuine consistent final ball that not even Lennon could claim - he did have a direct impact on the game at St. James' this season.

I think everyone is salivating over Walcott a bit too much.

He is still young and he can be marked out of a game. Lack of top-level experience is a real problem if you're talking about promoting him to the senior squad.

The player he reminds me of most is a young Michael Owen, electric pace but he is easily muscled off the ball. I think the run in the U21 is the best thing to build a bit of confidence and get some games after the Germany debacle.

by 2008 roger, not for another year should he be moved up

We should just leave him in the U21s. For a change just let one of our prospects mature properly.
