These players arr Horribly over-rated... but

    -------------------------------Given

    Chimbonda-----------Dawson-----King------------Lee Young-Pyo

    Lennon---------------Zokora------UNIT-----------Emre

    -----------------------Berbatov--------Keane

    Chairman: Daniel Levy

    Sporting Director: Daniel Comolli

    Head Coach: Martin Jol.

If you make these appointments & signings, you might just stand a chance of avoiding relegation. okSmiley

Great Win tonight though - Krul looks like a future star. Ale

If I was to make a Newcastle/Spud XI it would look like this.

    ------------------Lazarus---------------

    Chimbonda--Hypno-Eyes--King--Young-Pyo

    Milner--Parker--Huddlestone--Z0G

    ----------Berbatov--Martins------------

SUBS: Krulmeister, Moore, Zokora, Duff, Keane

The only thing the Spuds really have over us is coaching. ok

Crouching Tiger good post...For as long as I can remember Newcastle have never delivered for the fans. Why try and do a patch job, the whole club is shit....Wipe the slate clean and bring in new progressive owners, new staff and new players....Set in place a 7 year plan to be a premiership contender....This would give enough time to change everything from youth academies to creating a belief system in there philosophy of playing the game.
Newcastle should and could really become what the Edmonton Oilers were to Ice Hockey in the 80's and early 90's.....They have a fanatical fan base willing to wait and spend there money.... Basketball

I understant the Halls are looking to sell, and for that reason alone i would be under the impression the last thing they would wish is to oust a fellow board member leaving the club in turmoil. I still think that your fans are the key, if they put the pressure on FFS then thats your door to success. Untill he gets the resentment as opposed to the manager he will always undermind the manager and make him the scapegoat.

Newcastle have a big fanbase a big stadium, the 2 fundamentals they need to create a club that can go forward, as we all know, finance can propel a club and your club can produce finance, now they need to get the more difficult decisions correct from board to coaching staff, the players will then follow.
I don't think resentment is enough to oust Freddy, this man lives in a fuckin dreamworld. He was booed at Shearers testemonial when he was handing him an award and he just had a big grin on his face. I think the only thing that will get rid of him is a takeover. I suppose if all the fans chanted against him at games then it might work, but this will never happen, alot of people say "get behind the team" and are against any kind of protest. As you say, the foundations are there, we just need someone that knows wqhat he's doing to direct it. ok

And the win tonight was awesome, i don't care if Palermo had alot of first team players out(like we didn't). Tonight we saw NEWCASTLE with an organised disciplined defence, the whole team defended well when Palermo had the upper hand in the 2nd half. I'm over the moon with it, hopefully we'll see more of it in the league. Very Happy <Ale>

it means he is happy with it.

Looking at the current Newcastle squad , their only and biggest worry is defence with Taylor the only bright prospect there , the others are ok but not good enough for Newcastle.
The midfield is ok , so are the striking options(though injury hit).
SO Kimbo will he play Luque against Sheff Utd because I think Rossi and Luque partnership could be a good one , if you had Luque for the Charlton game you would have scored , he would have taken one of those several chances that Duff missed.

    What do Newcastle lack?

There's enough money there to be consistently a top 6 team and arguably breaking into the top 4.

Constant chopping and changing of managers has left a very disjointed squad. Every new manager seems to want to chuck out the existing team and buy a new one. That's why I think O'Neill would have been a great manager for them, he seems good at working with an established squad of players to get more from them.

I wonder also, though, whether the fans don't help. They want to win stuff but they also want 'sexy football' - and this has been defined by the 'attack at all costs' KK philosophy, hence the messianic status assigned to each new, big name striker.

Actually though what's probably needed is a couple of seasons of retrenchment - i.e. accepting a mid-table and then a top-6 result - and giving a manager time to build a new squad, accepting that they will have to grind out results sometimes.

The main problem at Newcastle is Freddie Sheppherd - get rid of him and you're half way towards making Newcastle a top club.

IMO they will never be a top club until he is ousted from his post and I think Kimbo would agree with me here Ale

Roeder isn't the best of managers either but I honestly don't think he is such a big problem as Sheppherd.

The main problems they seem to have are that the manager seems reluctant to play kids - they have some fantastic young prospects but the manager seems to always opt for experienced heads - this is insane though when Teylor is MILES better than Bramble and Zog is your best player.

One thing I will say is that apart from a left back, I don't think Newcastle need to make any signings, maybe a right back as well but it terms of personnel and squad depth IMO with the right man they have the potential to be a top 4 club
