Rafa wants out Empty Rafa wants out

    Post by L r d Thu Nov 09, 2006 9:19 am

Rafa Benitez's agent has claimed the Liverpool manager would consider a coaching job in Italy.

The Spaniard is widely regarded as one of the game's best tacticians and won the UEFA Champions League in his first season at Anfield.

Last term, he took The Reds to FA Cup success, although he has yet to launch a sustained bid for the Premiership title.

He has regularly stated he wants to stay on Merseyside, having been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Internazionale in the past.

But now his representative Manuel Garcia Quilon has claimed Benitez would give serious thought to a post in Serie A.

"Benitez is a coach who is ideally suited to Italy and the country's style of football," Quilon told The Sun.

"He is one of the three best coaches in the world.

"If he gets an interesting offer from a club with a serious project, he will certainly consider it.

"Yes, in this case, he could even leave Liverpool.

"Benitez is a coach who prepares to a high degree. He works 24 hours a day and is able to prepare in a way few others in the world can.

"Just look at what he has won. He led Valencia to the title and Uefa Cup. Then, at Liverpool, he has won the Champions League, European Super Cup and FA Cup."

Was only a matter of time lets be honest

    Agent talk.

Can't see him wanting to go to serie A anyway what with the place in so much turmoil at present and IMO there are only two teams that he could join.

Only one of those could be considered an interesting 'project'

    Yup.

He left because of board problems... I can see him now jumping at the chance of playing under Silvio "we must play with 2 strikers at all times" Berlusconi or Massimo "15 new players each summer" Moratti.

    Stability.

Yes, they are! And that's why I have a soft spot for them but this team is not good enough to win the title or the CL. We wont see another HUGE surprise as 2005!

Am I sounding too "anti" now...?

    @ricardo

    I think so.

Their squad has improved year on year since rafa's inception. Sure they have had a bad start to this season but in the past two seasons they have 'won something'; whose to say they won't win the fA cup or CL this season?

    CL is impossible!

Perhaps "small" prices like the milk cup or the other domestic cup...

would be relevent ricardo apart from the fact that he has already won the CL with a vastly inferior squad

Not ever. The last couple of years have been the only time they kept the manager for more than a season, and moratti interferes in everything, especially buying the players. If he would go there, he might as well go to Real which is his preference, as it's pretty much the same.

No thanks for the laughter.... Wink

About the CL. Of course Liverpool can win the CL. Bremen or CSKA can win it as well but based on quality it is unthinkable those teams will make a big chance!

You did it once with a weak team but that doesn't say you will win it again with a little less weak team...! The chances are still very slim!

As Liverpool showed by winning it, and Arsenal showed by catenaccio-ing their way to the final - it's wide open once you get to the knockout phases.
