He was not fit at the beginning of the season and that's why he made a couple of stupid errors. He had not trained because he wanted to leave PSV while they didn't want him to leave....

He is now getting fitter. He still believes he is far from his top form yet! But I'll promise you lot he will play a great second part of the season for Blackburn!

Mark Hughes must have 'massive' faith in Ooijer to make him captain ..

Never thought Ooijer was the 'leader' material

    Sure he *was*.

He was in the right place at PSV, played very well was experienced and liked. Same for him and Oranje.

Because of all the Ajax-minded national managers he never got as many caps for Holland as he should have, that left him feeling he still had something to prove (PSV taking him for granted and treating him like furniture didn't help either) so he went to the EPL.

...which was the worst decision of his career. The English game isn't agreeing with him, he's used to playing with better players around him, he's losing confidence....it's all going downhill *fast* for him.

Hughes is desperately trying to give him back his footing, showing him he still has faith in him....so he made him captain. It might be a desperate gamble, but it's the right one Wink

    @ Axe

Ooijer is a Amsterdammer..even though he never played for Ajax.

So these Ajax 'minded' managers should 'technically' give him more games.. Wink Rolling Eyes Wink

Blackburn are a side of two extremes - much like their manager... they can be extremely entertaining and flairy, and that's when players like McCarthy, Tugay, Bentley & M.G. Pedersen will come to the fore.

Other times they are snarly, gritty, and they earnt the tag "Black-eye Rovers" for a good reason. That's when you can expect to see Robbie Savage stirring trouble, and Lucas Neill & Andy Todd attempting to decapitate opponents.

Similar to Spurs, the extra Uefa Cup games has affected their league form somewhat, but they are a side who are a match for anybody, and I rate Mark Hughes as a Head Coach very highly.

Neill (When not collecting Red Cards) is a very good defender, as is the New Zealander Ryan Nelson. Oojier, after a very dodgy start, seems to be settling in, but I'm not entirely convinced about him, but I suppose it's better than having Todd there. Tugay is one of the best playmakers in the competition - and Gamst Pederson & Robbie Savage have both got excellent delivery from a set piece, though Gamst has been woefully off-form so far this season. David Bentley is a player I like a lot... dismissed by Arsene "No English plz" Wenger - he's a very skilful player, and is capble of lighting up any game with a moment of brilliance - the boy has great ability. Benny McCarthy is a great all-round forward, whilst the Angolan Nonda is a bustling presence.

What a poor side was Blackburn....! Feyenoord got Million opportunities to win with 6 or 7 nil! It is a miracle the score was 0-0 at the end of the game. Shocked Shocked

    Blackburn are through though Wink

    They did their job.

To be honest there are a lot better teams in the EPL but on their day Blackbuyrn can play some good football and they are always solid.

Blackburn have a good manager but never spend much and their stadium is terrible + their fans - they get the lowest attendances in the premiership, usually about 18,000 - the region is seriously depressed though so its understandable to a degree but the ground holds over 30,000 so you'd think more fans would attend.

    They're a decent mid-table team though - could finish anywhere from 13th to 6th

    I know.... Cool

A player like Emerton who played a decent World Cup and was one of the better players at Feyenoord in 2002 when they won the UEFA Cup. How come he is not the player anymore he was...? At Blackburn he never really impressed....It is a pity because this player can play much better

he's getting better at Blckburn now. Those morons played him the the wrong position too much. Suddenly Hughes gets credits for playing him left fullback. 'Stroke of genius', he had been always playing that position, before he arrived overthere.
