    Cross-Continent Successes Empty Cross-Continent Successes

Post by Tweesus Tue Nov 28, 2006 11:02 am

Ok, with the failure of Sheva thus far this is a thread where we try and think up the players that have been a success in two or more of the BIG 3 leagues - we could do it in more but it becomes far too complex so just players fromm the EPL, La Liga and Serie A....

The obvious one that immediately comes to mind in the EPL is Zola - absolute legend over here and also in Serie A.

Others that I can think of are Vieri - who had a fantastic season for Athletico when he played there, Hasslebaink as well ok

    Continue....

Zola was very good in Italy and brilliant over here in England.

Tweeds - Vieri was good in Spain, but I think he was only there for one season.

I wouldn't say Macca was that much of a success - he did well but only as much as Beckham or Owen really - in the EPL when he left he was one of the top ten players - he never reached those heights in La Liga

    Xabi Alonso

Darn near carried Sociedad on his back as they fought the galaticos, who were all top of their game, to the final day of the season.

He won the CL twice and played roles in the semi finals and the final itself vs Valencia.

He spent 5 seasons there, they loved him in Madrid.

But one game doesn't make a player a real success - else I could claim that Reyes was for his goal against Chelsea - was he ever regarded as one of the best players in La liga? no - he couldn't even get in the Madrid squad much of the time

2 Champions League medals - scored the winner in one. 2 League titles and was a first team regular despite Figo and Zidane in the team.

Well ok - I know he did well for them but he never quite became a talisman there - he was loved by the fans in the same way that Man Utd love Park
