Where is Eto'O and even Henry.
Zidane - He was poor for Madrid from January, but it just goes to show you only need a few sound World Cup games to be nominated.
Dinho is there as a celebrity.
Cannavaro poor start to the season. Poor end to last season. Zidane nothing this season obviously, not the greatest end of year for madrid. how the hell are you in the top of the whole year for a few good games in the world cup. The awards are basically pointless. What about players like Etoo, where his country is very unlikely to ever do really well.

I think some people chronically underrate the players in our league becasue of an out of sight out of mind mentality
I am pretty sure that the EPL is the most watched league in the world
I meant for parky - he doesn't get to see serie A and assumes their players are amazing week in week out - whereas he sees all the flaws of the EPL players.

best five, maybe.
my best player would be buffon. Ronaldinho is obviously the best IMO, but I think players who don't do well in a WC do not deserve it.

Re: FIFA World Player
Ok Dinho had a stinker at the world cup but in la liga and the CL he was simply magnificent. Didnt he score 18 goals and get 20 assists last season.
As for Zidane he was crap for Real all season and he played well for 45 minutes in the WC. They were struggling to qualify and only played well when he wasnt there. They played the biggest underachievers in world football (Spain) and he scored. He was magnificent against Brazil for 45 minutes. Against Portugal he scored the penalty that Henry won (dived) and C Ronaldo was the best player on the pitch that day. He got sent of in the final and his team then went on to lose. So no he shouldnt be in the top 3.
Cannavaro looked good in Serie A, were they bought the refs and was horrendous in the champions league, were werder Bremen gave them a bye into the next round and Arsenal gave them a footbaling lesson. He played well in the WC, but how many good players did he actually face, no one until the final. This seasonat Real he has been made to look like a pub player by various opponents.
Personaly I think Ronaldinho or Eto should get it as they won the league and the CL.

You're overrating that performance; France/Zidane didn't even create a clear cut chance.
You're basing it soley on the fact that he dribbled past 2-3 players in the centre of the midfield in what was - Argentine goals and headbutts aside - the moment of the world cup.
He was the best player on the pitch but it was hardly the solo performance of the season.

roony must win, he played outstanding for barca the whole season, not like zidane or cannavoro for 4 weeks
btw zidane made only 1-2 good games at the world cup, and against a poor brasil side where a lot of space was^^

He created a chance when he sent a free kick sailing over Brazil's defence onto Henry's boot.

This is ridiculous, I want none of them to win it.
Buffon and Henry should have been nominated instead.

Thanks to Roberto Carlos' marking...
Better or higher profile?
Gerrard in the FA Cup final.

VI -Holland's most popular football website did a poll (26,000 respondents):
1. Henry 28%
2. Cannavaro 24%
3. Ronny 23%
4. Zidane 11%
5. Eto'o 8%
6. Buffon 5%
Anyway imo neither of them should have won it.
My WPOTY: Kolo Toure.

Re: FIFA World Player
Well, for Zidane there's a bit more than the world cup I think. When he decided to play for France, France were third of their group, behind Switerland and Israel, whereas after three games played France ended up first and did much more than expected during the world cup, so he clearly had his influence on the national team. Regards to the white jersey, Madrid and himself didn't perform particularly well all season.

Re: FIFA World Player
If you look down the years, you will seee that the Golden Ball winner is usually a better performer during the calendar year, while the WPOTY award winner usually has the reputation.
So I wouldn't be surprised to see a Ronaldinho win, its expected.

Deco also deserved to be there and about IMO - chronically underrated.
Its bullshit though, I could probably accept Dinho winning it if it wasn';t for him winning it the other two years but for me Cannavaro and Zidane do not deserve to win it

dinho should win it and will win it.
the 5 players that deserve it most IMO is
Eto'o
Dinho
Henry
Deco
Toni
the WC (the lowest form of competition IMO) should have no effect and who wins it
