before the draw i don't think both teams thought they would be out of the Fa Cup by the third round. there aim would have been to get to the final or the semis at least.

Fa Cup - Jan

depending on the results of the League Cup, Fa Cup and the draw for the Champions League. in Feb Arsenal or Liverpool will only be playing for a top 4 finish in the league.

e.g. The Worst-Case Scenario for Liverpool

Liverpool lose to Arsenal in the League Cup and Fa Cup, then they get drawn against Barcelona in the Champions League.

but i think Liverpool will beat Arsenal in the League Cup because Wenger will play the kids.

I think we'll do the exact same that Chelsea did against them and batter them in a narrow midfield.

We're not a La Liga team for chrissakes, we're not going to spend the entire game sitting off their midfield.

Funny that they struggle when teams go out and play a fast, robust style of football, isn't it? Both Real and Chelsea have done it this season and completely stiffled them.
