I think this man is one of the top attacking midifelders in Europe at the moment - so I wasn't suprised to see he was behind the goals last night.

For those that haven't seen him:

He has a Ballack like physique, Totti like vision and a Gerrard like shot.

His understanding with Makoun and Keita looks like telepathy at times and he's just turned 24.

Up until this season you always thought that if he could add goals to his game he would be awesome

    In Ligue 1:

    2004/05 27 starts, 4 goals
    2005/06 28 starts, 4 goals

He already has 7 this season.

Any French fans - who are Bodmer, Makoun, Keita, and to a lesser extent, Odemwingie being linked to in the French press and what sort of prices are being touted ?

Why doesn't Bodmer get in the French squad ?

Any Milan fans watch last night's game ?

    Was he good ?

They didn't show the game live here, but I TRIED to watch a replay, I hardly watched the game, it made me embarased to be a Milanista, therefore I can say I didn't see him! Milan played shit to say the least so didn't pay much attention! But the commentator did say either Keita or Odemwingie did where linked to big clubs in England

Any player you could compare him to Pierre? He was very good against us last season but sometimes when you are playing a team its hard to judge another player.

I know we've been linked to him before but I've heard he is very like Carrick (could be bollocks).

A lot of the French fans see him as a CM or even a DM (I think that's where he started) but he's an attacking midfielder now.

Couldn't really compare him with another player because those sort of touch players are usually small.

Very good at opening up a defence with the outside of his right boot, cannon of a shot and deceptively skillful.

Does well in France and seems well liked by team mates so probably a low risk signing for an EPL team.

Bodmer deserve to be called by Domenech.
He had a great game yesterday in San Siro, Makoun too.

He can play central defender, central defensive midfielder and central offensive midfielder !

Keita could do better, he has an awesome potential but he is not regular.

Odemwingie was a legend in Championship Manager 2003/2004, but in reality he is not so good.

Lille has the smallest budget of all 16 qualified teams, but they have not the poorest players...

Saw him against Anderlecht and he does have a wicked shot. Arrigo Sacchi actually recommended him for us during his brief stint.

I prefer Toulalan to him. Still good player, as said above he can play CB( like against AEK), CM and AM similar to zaidane's position in the world cup. He has a cracking shot and is good at coming into the box. One thing i like about him is he just try to keep things simple; control, pass, move ...he doesn't over play at all - a sign of a great player.

    He turned 24 in November.

He can't run the 100m in less than 11 secs so I doubt Wenger would be interested.

Very class player. Actually he has been playing very well for the last two years, with ups and downs. He is with Toutalan another good midfield prospect in France. As for Makoun and Keita, they are also very talentued. Lyon have showed interest in both these players to replace Diarra, but bought A.Diarra because Lille didn't want to sell them. I would see Makoun more like a player like Makelele, won't score much but will defend very well and very tight. Keita is a very explosive player, can drible very well, score and assist, whereas Bodmer as a similar game as Gerrard, very heavy shoot and great technic. I really don't think prices would go above 8-9 millions pounds for these players because Lyon already tried 10-12 millions euros for Keita or Makoun (don't remember which one) and Lille refused because it was something like 2-3 weeks before the beginning of the season.

Some other interesting bargains good quality/price (>5millions pounds) would be Faubert (from Bordeaux). He was the only player who could step up against Liverpool. He's also very tatented and explosive. Finally Nasri, Ben Arfa and Mavuba could easily play for bigger clubs. Ben Arfa, who's only 18 has amazing skills for his age, he has been in conflict with the management of Lyon, so he could be a possible departure for another big club. Tottenham offered 6.5m pounds last Summer, but the transfert failed. I really hope lyon could keep him, but I don't think they will.

    1-Makoun
2-Bodmer or Mavuba (on current form : Bodmer)

At the start he was considered a very very poor player... Badly developped, etc... the whole package of critics...No club wanted it and he ended up in Lille. Then year after yaer he attracted people's attention more and more... ANd now specialists say that he reacted very well to his critics by being the player that progressed the most in the League. But like he completely transformed. Year after year he gets better. He can thank Claude Puel for all his career...And his own efforts of course... I don't think Domenech will call him sadly because "very versatile players" aren't really liked in national teams normally. Selectionners prefer true specialists doen't they?

We keep on getting linked to him alot at the moment which I can only assume would end any future Gerrard has in the centre.

Don't see the point personally but would he actually be a drastic improvement over what we already have. As Pierre's mentioned, it's only this season he's added goals to his game, afterall.

Liverpool don't need him. After all you've got Sissoko, Xabi and Gerrard. If you get Bodmer, he'll play very little games, and Liverpool will ruin another French prospect.

    Ruin?

It's thanks to Liverpool that France have the new Samuel Eto'o on their hands in Florent Sinama-Pongolle Cool

If he came he'd likely be rotated as part of a 3 with Xabi and Sissoko. Or we'd play 5-3-2 with Bodmer/Sissoko, Gerrard and Xabi in the centre.

Regardless, I don't want him, he's just being linked, s'all.

Cissé - Super fast, super talented French striker. Scores twenty five a season
    Le Tallec - Top prospect
Diomède- erm. He was actually shit
Cheyrou - French international, top player
    Diarra - didn't play a game.

    After Liverpool:

Cissé - Talentless donkey, not got a leg to stand on.
Le Tallec - Was a failure at Sunderland and St étienne
    Diomède - Stopped playing
Cheyrou - plays for RENNES!!!!! And is shit

And the only success - Diarra, French international, plays for Lyon.
