Then they changed to slick passing football, but lots of it passing in circles and not really going anywhere.
When they transform the slick passing football into attacking exciting football, then they can be considered for my mind.

We were in transition before this season though.
Keane leaving, Ruud moving on, Rooney and Ronaldo still developing.
Ruud was still a regular up until the Carling Cup Final.
True, Ronaldo and Rooney are developing. But they were already at a high standard. Both scored a lot of goals last season as well as an assists. Playing van Persie ahead of Bergkamp, a 18 year old instead of Vieira, Senderos for Campbell and using an untried Djourou is more like transition.

Yes and before this season Arsenal played the better football

Everything you said was correct, no dobt hes a great footballer but you effectively play with 9 outfield players when hes on the pitch

A lot of people blame Capello for real madrid poor football this year, but ruud is 50% to blame imo

I still think Arsenal are the best side to watch, their passing and movement is breathtaking at times. United are a bit more gung-ho and a lot of their flair comes from individual briliance rather than team play. Their central midfielders can get very square at times which is not pretty. They are playing very well at the moment, which is why the thread was created now.

do you disagree with anything I or we have said. If so plz inform us as to what it is and counter the pointsParktheHeraldAngelsSing wrote:Always trust the Scousers to be impartial on a Man United vs Arsenal debate.
Well glenn has just given what I see as a very fair assessment and has subsequently been accused of being impartial which implies that all that is really wanted from the thread is praise for man united ie self appreciation.L r d wrote:Rafa the Grinch wrote:. spot onChristmas Glenn Hysén wrote:Tinseldum wrote: we're n trasnition

All of it is spot on? or just that? The movement off the ball from man utd this season is one of the main things that make the team work so well.

Ive said united play the best stuff 'this season' but as arsenal proved at old trafford when they are 'on' they can play better football than anyone (including man united)
ParktheHeraldAngelsSing wrote:Exactly, for 3-4 years we've consistently beat and OUTPLAYED Arsenal. Were we the better team on our day then?

On Glenn points i disagree with the movement thing, and the central midfield thing, as carrick scholes i believe more creative and attacking exciting, than gilberto and cesc.
Maybe because arsenal usually play with 5 midfielders this kind of confuses the issue.

Roger_Hunt wrote:I think that's its an exaggeration to say you have consistently outplayed Arsenal.
As an example, when you stopped Arsenal's unbeaten run, you won because you stopped them playing their preferred game, by pressing, denying them possession, and getting physical (within the rules of the game).
