    scratch

Woeful first half sure, but the 2nd half was much better. The players actually began to play entertaining football, and at times, it was end-to-end stuff, although we were by far the better team in the 2nd half (understandably, as Newcastle's players were getting more and more tired).

Given made a couple of excellent saves at the end. One from Terry, another from Robben.

If they're talking about the foul on Butt.. never. A yellow card (which is what he got), but never a yellow. Plus it was in the 90th minute anyway, so he'd be very unlikely to get sent off.

What does time have to do with it Question

I'm yet to see the incident but McQueen was going potty about it.

Well, in my opinion he's far less likely to be sent off in the 90th minute than the 80th minute for example. It's not fair I know, but it's the way the referee's normally work.

Couldn't believe the standard of football in the first half of the Arsenal and Wigan game, had to turn it off it was that bad. Still people call them the most exciting team in the League. Rolling Eyes
You missed a cracking second half. Yikes

To be fair we were devoid of a our more creative and flair players like Henry, Rosicky, Hleb not to mention Fabregas and van Persie who both came on later in the game.

    ok

The second half was far better.

    ok
    Lots more urgency.

We actually got some players in the box as well, if some of the final balls were better tonight we would have had at least three more.

The second half was far better.

SHAY GIVEN - 8 - The goalkeeping god has another good game, when did he last make a mistake?

PAUL HUNTINGTON - 8 - Great debut for the kid, i heard he had potential and he's proved it. He stepped up to the plate like Krul did against Palermo.
STEVEN TAYLOR - 10 - Great, his best game ever for us. I don't give a fuck if the haters think 10 is over the top. Very Happy
PETER RAMAGE - 7 - Solid enough game from Ramage, he's becoming Mr Reliable.
CELESTINE BABAYARO - 5 - Better, but that's not saying much. Fook off back to whence ye came!

JAMES MILNER - 7 - Some god crossing.
NICKY BUTT - 8 - Gave 100% as usual, proving his critics(me) wrong
ANTOINE SIBIERSKI - 7 - See Butt, unlucky not to score.
CHARLIE N'ZOGBIA - 6 - Gave the ball away a few times before his injury. Sad

GIUSEPPE ROSSI - 6 - Put the effort in and looked dangerous
OBAFEMI MARTINS - 6 - Same as Rossi

    SUBS USED:
MATTY PATTISON - 7 - Tireless, good potential there.
ALBERT LUQUE - 5 - Meh, looked like he tried.

MOTM(for us): Taylor - Only player better was the most complete midfielder in the world, ESSIEN. <Ale>

We really have turned a corner this season, hopefully injuries won't beat us. Very Happy ok

Mourinho knows his shit. Very Happy <Ale>

"The easiest thing to do in football is to defend and Newcastle did it very, very well," stated Mourinho.

"I think (Steven) Taylor had a great game. They are the team that can defend and they were dangerous with Martins in attack."

It's not like him to pick out an opposition player for praise.

He wouldn't leave anyway, if he did he'd be selling out. Whenever he's interviewed he always bangs on about how great it is to play for Newcastle and how it's all he wants to do. I personally would hunt him down and dick him!! Twisted Evil Wink

Woodgate is always saying how much of an honour it is playing for Boro. I doubt he'll stick around if a bigger club comes in.

He doesn't show the same enthusiasm though. Taylor is one of the few players i believe when he says that, the other two being Shearer and Given(& maybe Solano). Bellamy used to say it all the time but you knew he was talking shit, same with Dyer but i'm not convinced about him.

You're right. but you can fook off! 20 years old and leading our defence superbly away against the premiership champions. Very Happy <Ale>

I don't know what highlights you saw. All credit to Newcastle for the way they played, but in terms of chances, we dominated the match (especially in the 2nd half), and still looked the most likely to score even at 1-0, with 5 minutes to go. It was only really in the last minute or so, when Newcastle launched their final attacks (which I was expecting to come earlier, but maybe they just couldn't lift themselves as they had given everything).

8 shots from Chelsea to Newcastle's 2, tells you that we deserved the win.

What makes you so certain the title race is over too?

It does indeed. Although both teams did display good football at various points in the match, it wasn't really one for the neutrals.

Agreed, in terms of chances you had the upperhand. But with that line-up s4p, and then finding the net so difficult. It tells something, even Jose looked a bit paniced in the end. Chelsea litteraly grinds results, where Manu looks so comfortable in this form, and also win easily.

Recently they haven't been. Ever since their draw against us, they managed to grind out a result against Boro, and had a few moments of panic when City pulled one back, before a defensive error made the win look comfortable.

I checked a Newcastle forum and all of them said he did very well, especially as he was playing on the left out of position.

Hardly gave the ball away, worked hard and got a great shot on goal as well.

It wasn't a "great" shot, it hit the side netting. It was an alright effort though. Wasn't one of the better players for us.
