Ashton hasnt had his chance...so you believe Ashton is not capable of doing it an international level?

The same 3rd world countries that the rest of England stumbled against.
The same 3rd world countries that King has been playing against in defence, bar for a solitary game against France where England conceeded twice.
Crouch is the exact problem with this board. You complain and complain about average players who can't do it at an international level like Johnson and Rooney (at this stage) and all we hear is about players like Defoe and Ashton who have the mindset and the 'ability' to make it at international level... constantly overlooking Crouch who has taken to that level like the proverbial duck to water.
Still, it's typical of England to what to change a player in the one position they're seemingly sorted in because he doesn't fit the preconceived idea of what a striker should look or play like. Afterall, he doesn't score 20 goals in the league or win 20 flick on's from nothing balls. So what if England play alot better when he's in the starting 11. He should replaced for someone who - whilst clearly a talented player - hasn't sampled life at that level of football, or any level higher than premiership football.

Exact same but with the names reversed. I just think it's typical that a England finally have a player who actually looks suited to international football and yet everyone's desperate to drop him for a talented, yet largely untested player.
What are Ashton's credentials exactly, why should he be playing instead of Crouch?

Again...Ive not said drop Crouch. as statistically he shouldnt be dropped, but Ashton deserves his chance and its obvious what hes capable of. Hes basically a young Teddy Sheringham. I would say play both to be honest.

You would drop rooney for an ashton crouch partnership
ashton hopefully will get a chance to play with rooney

I've defended Crouch against people who still think his useless - I've even gone to such Lenghts as to say that his 2nd goal vs. Galatasaray was as good as Ronaldinho's vs. Villareal.
Ashton deserves his shot - that's all I'm saying... it's not as if England are full to the brim with World-Class targetman.
Obi's making it seem as if Ashton is up against Toni, Drogba, Mido, Beerbatov, Kuyt, Adebayor etc. for one place. Since Heskey died/was got rid of, apart from Crouch, there's nobody to play the big man role.

Re: What is Everton on about?
The hype around Crouch has died down a bit recently, does he still start for pool?
Ashton seems a good player, but what has he done more than Bent, AJ, Defoe to deserve the hype?
As for drop Rooney for England and replace him with Ashton are you insane, a half fit Rooney is better than Ashton/Crouch.
At the moment its Crouch and Rooney, until Owen returns then it will be Owen and Rooney. Reason were never going to win a major tournament, is because the opposition have better players and our players dont really seem to care that much.

Re: What is Everton on about?
Kuyt and Bellamy seems to be our starting partnership at the moment. Crouch's lack of mobility is counting against him.
Owen will never be anything but a shadow of his former self, and his partnership with Rooney is nonexistent. Rooney drops back all the time and Owen does nothing except the odd shot (which he still scores a fair proportion of), there's no interplay. Owen-Rooney is one of our worst partnerships imo.

If Rooney is dropped Defoe or someone has to replace him, you cannot play ashton and crouch together.

That rubbish is the reason why England crash out at the quaters.
A fully fit Rooney hasn't been able to score in more than 1 game in the Champions league, despite 3 years.
Crouch has 4 goals in 4 starts this year.
It's no minor coincidence that any kind of cohesion that England had in attack disappeared as soon as Rooney returned to the first team, and that Crouch's goals suddenly dried up.
Anyone with sense would use him as an impact sub. Unfortunately he's got the entire press and pundit-army backing him, so World Class Wayne can continue starting for England for a good few months yet, especially now that he's got the wind in his sails from his annual international goal.
Meanwhile the first England player to score 10 goals in a season for the national team is disregarded due to sizeism.

No what you written is rubbish
England crash out at the quarters as they are rubbish at pens, unless you are saying of course england have a better team than portugal and brazil and only lost due to picking the wrong team

England - Minus Rooney & Terry + Crouch & King = Portugal - minus Deco w/no striker on the pitch for half an hour
