Colombia or Brazil to host Empty Colombia or Brazil to host

Post by mongrel hawk Tue Dec 19, 2006 2:28 pm

up to now, Colombia and Brazil are the only candidates to host the WC in 1914. Brazil would be the only South American candidate with the support of the other SA federations, but Colombia decided to try.

unfortunatelly the only article I found was in Portuguese...

Yup. We'll be too busy playing good football but losing, while England bore the masses playing Chelsea-football, minus the talent.

It won't be in either Brazil or Colombia, probably end up in America or Canada unless one of them replace South Africa in 2010.

It's true sadly Todo... A few months ago we got battered 5-1 by Slovenia, but we atleast managed to pass the ball along the floor.

Meanwhile England lumped the ball repeatedly from defence to attack - by passing an average midfield - only to get a 0-0 draw against Macedonia.

Neither are impressive, but atleast Wales are pretty Wink

I've actually been to Colombia, and its nowhere near as bad (think Bagdad) or as safe as they'd like you to think.
There are opportunists and there are plenty of good people. As long as you don't flaunt your "foreign-ess" (because for most people = money); respect people (good luck with that in a WC Laugh Doh ); and stay out of obvious louche and seedy places/situations you'll do alright and enjoy the country.

I just read that Colombia wants to host WC 2014. One has to wonder how a country such as Colombia with 65%-70% of its population living in poverty can or would want to host a WC? scratch

Colombia has more than enough problems to worry about before planning to host a WC. More power to Colombia if they can pull it off, but I think Brasil has WC 2014. Every South American country backs Brasil. <Ale>

I don't think Brazil has the infrastructure to pull it off. And escalating crime scares the shit out of me. With civil war almost in the streets of Rio de Janeiro

Just seeing any Brazilian movie made in the past decade makes me piss my pants.

Your best bet would be Mexico Wink

Actually no, apart from drug people that shoot themselves there's nothing to worry about.

Just for example I live in the ghetto. And my family being part American make good money not great but we are in the middle class. We have more money than everyone else in the neighborhood I have a high end computer, PS2, Gamecube and I go to the best High School in Latin America one of the best in the world. Now let me tell you no one has ever robbed us

I can go get some tacos at 1 am in the morning not being worried one bit and you are talking about one of the worst neighborhoods in the city.

Imagine the same scenario in the US

I'd be dead in a minute!

Imagine the same scenario in Rio de Janeiro! I'd be kidnapped and my kidneys sold to the organs black market.

    Food for thought

I didn't say that he would never sign for Madrid. I still don't think that AS and Marca aren't reliable sources. Maybe you also thought that Kaka' would become a Madrid player.

That's what I said if I had the same situation living in the US I'd probably be dead by now.

That's the one saving grace from Mexico except the inept politicians and crazy radicals.

for people who live there it's quite safe. for outsiders, in fact, it's very dangerous. but no one needs to enter there.

I'm sure there are places in Mexico City where you would not be able to enter without taking a great risk.
