    Yeah.

He wasn't even playing (just warming up on the touchline) and he still got more abuse than anyone else I can remember.

Chars Sparta. Don't really know what to make of that, i guess its all tabloiod rubbish but Hiddink is a top top manager, but Jose isnt going anywhere.

Jose's also said we're looking into buying MORE players. I also liked how he slagged off Ballack, Geremi, Kalou, Ferreira, Shevchenko, Lampard and co. and praised Didier. ok that should get their acts together.

In terms of buying new players, if Cech is indeed out for the rest of the season then a new keeper imo is needed, as *good* as Hilario is Rolling Eyes

A right back: We have Glen Johnson out on loan at Pompey and he is looking the real deal, but right now we need a tough right back who can tackle AND can get forward. Step forward Miguel. Any others?

If JT isnt back soon then perhaps a centre back on loan or maybe a young player that could eventually be the future partner of JT. Any ideas?

An extra player, preferably a winger. Someone who isnt afraid to run at players, beat them and get a GOOD cross into the box. (i.e exactly the opposite of SWP). Lennon? Quaresma? Simao?

    Any others?

We could just play with the squad we've got now, and fall further behind United.

    From the BBC:

    What they need?
A right-back and some cover for central defence.

What have they got to spend?
    Whatever it takes.

Who have they been linked with?
Micah Richards, Tal Ben Haim, Alexander Pato, Fernando Higuain, David Villa, Fernando Torres, Matthew Upson, Daniel Alves, Miguel.

Who do you want them to buy?
"Talk of swapping SWP for Micah Richards. This seems to make a lot of sense to me."

what happened to that Michael Mancienne guy? Surely he's a better option in defence than Drogba?

If he, the best of your youth, doesn't get a chance now then what hope for any of Chelsea's academy?

It comes from a usually pretty reliable magazine so I don't know if you can put down as just tabloid talk. The link is easily made, Hiddink is Russia, Chelsea and PSV relationship. Abromovich and Hiddink relationship.

    I think it could work.

The article said that Mourinho will try to get to Inter which is offcourse an old rumour.

Yeh Abramovich funds some of the Russian National Team.

I really would like to see us bring in a quality right back, and maybe another centre back. But us being linked to Sol is slightly worrying. Hes 32 now, and we dont need an ageing defender, despite the fact that hes not bad.

The only positions where we need to buy are at RB and up front. With Glen Johnson (hopefully) returning, we'll have 1 excellent RB, but we need another imo.

And we desperately need another goalscorer, to take the pressure of the Didi's shoulders.

PS. Those (few) fans who booed after the Fulham game have very short memories (or are post-2003 fans).

Lets hope we can get a good result against Aston Villa today.

    @S4P

Who would you sign for that right back role?

    Richards? Miguel? Alves?

    Personally Alves.

If Richards ends up becoming the 'real deal' then he would be the best to sign, but imo Alves is the best of the 3 (plus Richards will be the most expensive).

We have a great opportunity to put the gap back to 4 points now (in all honesty, we should've lost to Fulham though).

I will be so jealous if you get Richards. Sad

The thing is Richards realistically should be a right back only for a few years. It is obvious he will end up a centre half in the later years.

Alves would be a great impact player though.

I've seen him a handful of times and yet to think he's as good as someone like Obi makes out. Not sure how well he'd do in the Premiership either.

Miguel is excellent in the Champions league, for his country and for his club.

I think Miguel is more suited for the EPL than Alves due to his strength and stature.. Alves is certainly better in Spain because he is a perfect version of the attacking fullback and actually pretty decent at defending too.

    Not really.

I've been very happy with Lampard's contribution, the defence (until JT's injury) too.

The only player who I can say has been consistantly disappointing is Sheva, but I'm sure he will come good.

John Terry will play in a behind-closed-doors friendly later this week as he continues his miracle recovery from a back op.

The Chelsea skipper had a ball at his feet again as he took part in a full lunchtime training session yesterday before the Premiership champions hit the road for tonight’s match at Aston Villa.

If the secret reserve match goes to plan, defender Terry, 26, remains on course to make his eagerly-awaited return in next Wednesday’s Carling Cup semi-final against Wycombe.

But he may even feature in Saturday’s FA Cup third-round tie at home to League Two minnows Macclesfield.

Terry underwent back surgery in France last Thursday in a bid to cure a series of niggling leg injuries.

The England skipper has not played since going down with the calf problem that ruled him out of the 2-1 victory at Everton on December 17.

Chelsea have conceded two goals in four of their last five games in his absence.

Terry will not figure tonight at Villa Park but he is making good progress.

Yikes This is turning out to be a very quick recovery. The FA Cup game will give him an opportunity to get back to fitness as well for the weeks after.

Fixture list and predictions for January '07:

    02/01Aston Villa (A) - PREM WIN
    06/01Macclesfield Town - FA Cup R3 WIN
10/01Wycombe Wanderers (A) - Carling Cup Semi 1st Leg WIN
    13/01Wigan Athletic (H) - PREM WIN
    20/01Liverpool (A) - PREM DRAW
23/01Wycombe Wanderers (H) - Carling Cup Semi 2nd Leg WIN
    31/01Blackburn Rovers (H) - PREM WIN

All of our January (excluding Liverpool) are all very winnable and I'll honestly be very unhappy if we lose any of those games (except for the game at Anfield)
