You won't hear me moaning about that.

He would of gone last summer if it wasn't for the injury.

    2) He's not an offensive little arsehole

    Hence Smith is much funnier.

Are we arguing about their entire careers or ust their careers at ehri respective clubs here?

The Liverpool fans will obviously try and look round that though. Very Happy

Actually , Obi's already posted the stats which clearly show Morientes was better, and you then started to make excuses.

Theyre both crap, although Morientes was good at Real. Personally I wouldnt want either in my team, I dont know how the argument started. Moreintes was Liverpools star striker Smith was united s 4th choice striker and all ways will be.

Not really, smith did play quite a lot in midfield, if the guy can rarely score as a striker, what chance as a midfielder. the stats dont prove anything at all

Smith played in midfield a lot, at their best Smith>Morientes, he had that run of about 10-12 games in which he looked top class

Morientes was meant to be Liverpools RVN, Smith was meant to be Liverpools version of Fowler (dont know who your 4th choice striker was in 2004)

The stats don't say he's played 20 games in midfield either. Thats just a random number longstockings has picked to attempt to prove his point.

Shall we mention Morientes' 7 direct assists (11 if you use the tomkins method) last season to go with his 5 Premiership goals. Not bad considering he only made 28 appearences (god knows how many were as sub) in the premiership.

"While Morientes' overall strike rate was approximately one goal every five games his ratio is closer to one goal every three 90 minute periods - far more respctable and closer to what would be expected."

He was never meant to be our RVN considering we rotate our front players so often and the fact that everyone overlooks the fact that every club apart from Real Zaragoza he's been the '2nd' striker.

Nah Cisse was our 'star' striker (albeit crocked).

But if Smith was your 4th choice all the more argument that you overpaid for him.

    Joker.

It was probably more than 20 to be honest.

His first game in midfield was the game away against Villarreal and he played in almost every game up until the Liverpool cup game.

Strange whenever liverpool fans were on the t.v they all seemed to think he was total shit. watching ssn one time before a cl game, they just watched liverpool training, they were saying he cannot even score in training. him and cisse kept missing, crouch and fowler keep putting them away. things along these lines. heskey probably has a better goalscoring record for liverpool than morientes

Moritentes wasn't Liverpool's best ever player, but when compared to the headless chicken bleep test of a footballer that is Alan Smith, he is worthy of our affection.

It's a strange argument. We really should be discussing how much United will get for Ronaldo and how much Malcome "sell to buy" Glazer will let Fergie spend on Dennis Rommedahl as his natural replacement.
