In my opinion, Cech is more important to Chelsea than John Terry for the simple reason that when you have a goalkeeper who dominates the six-yard line, it gives the rest of the team so much confidence. -Alan Hanson.

Yeah Oleguer's correct, Ronaldinho's basic wages aren't that high, but the performance/win bonuses are massive. That's the new structure Laporta's board has put in place, so the entire team has lower than average or about average wages, but big performance bonuses.

Yup, and it does work. If the club is trophyless, the financial impact is not as serious, and if trophies are won, the payouts are huge but can be covered by the increased prize money and insurance, as we did last season.

So all in all, it's a fantastic idea by Laporta and co., and the key to implementing it was ensuring a chunk of homegrown players, for whom money is not necessarily the main priority.
