    Not just our domestic record. We've had more success in Europe as well.

    And as West Ham fans would say, we won the World Cup! Wink

    Now that they need so many midfielders, I'm sure Bayern might rekindle their interest in Emre as well.

    Agree that football didn't start 20 years ago (and on that basis Liverpool are a bigger club than Bayern Wink ) but recent performance is more important to players because they want to join a winning side. And your domestic record is only better than Man United because your domestic league is weaker.

    Bayern are a huge club in Germany, but no player who is in demand by the top clubs in Italy, Spaain and England will go there.

    Bayern should stick to poaching players from the German league.

    Ps PSV/Ajax are historically as big as Bayern, but no good player over the age of 23 wants to go there.

    @ DD,

    what have Joe Cole and Harry Kewell got in common? I dont understand the comparison..

    @Isar,

    Ronaldo will never go to Germany, thats outrageous. Bayern could never afford him for a start.

    @Otto,

    Hargreaves is English. His parents are English. You might aswel get over it at some point!

    Is he? He's more English than Zidane is French, or Giggs is Welsh, or Seedorf is Dutch. I think it riles the Germans that he chose to play for England over possibly playing for Germany. Why would he want to play for Germany after all, he only ended up there by total chance anyway (read his column!)

    Really? More than Dortmund? I suppose it's possible with their current capacity if Dortmund hasn't been a complete sell-out lately... but what are the stats? Any links?

    Re Hargreaves and nationality, I don't see how anyone can make such arbitrary and franky ludicrous statements as "he's more English" than e.g. the French born-and-bred Zidane is French, Giggs, son of a Welsh father born in Wales, is Welsh, or Seedorf, who despite being born in Surinam like many Dutch immigrants grew up in Holland and has Dutch parents I think, is Dutch.

    You can define these things in terms of birth, parentage, upbringing or long residency, and Hargreaves I think was born and grew up in Canada and has one English and one Welsh parent, and has lived in Deutschland since he was 16. His accent and intonation sound all over the place in terms of influence – sounds a true internationalist. So he has every right to play for England, but your comments, Mr Powder, are nothing short of bizarre.

    Besides, you know Otto is only on the wind-up when he calls him, not unjustifiably, "the Canadian" Wink

    Hargreaves was never given the option to play for Germany. To be honest, he wouldn't get in ahead of Frings anyway.

    He's nearly 26 years of age and has never even lived in England. His decision to play for England is a strange one. I feel sorry for him, because the English will turn on him in a heartbeat if he dips in form for any game.

    @ allez

    Damn you! I've tried to find a thread we had on this but I can't, however I found a post where Messiah posted the top ten from last season:

    Top 10 (05-06)

    1) Barcelona-73225
    2) Dortmund-72627
    3) Real-71544
    4) Man Utd-68765
    5) Bayern-67641
    6) Schalke 04-61299
    7) Milan 60000
    8 ) Hamburger SV-52629
    9) N.Castle-52032
    10) Inter-51371

    Now assuming Dortmund have the same, Man Utds average this season has been about 75,500.

    Also Arsenal will now be in 7th ok

    I don't see why you say that He is more....

    I only said that the people make him a Canadian/German if he makes mistakes but if he plays well he is FULL English...

    I still hear the whistles from the crowd to Hargreaves after he touched his first ball this WC....

    I agree with all that, though they're clearly fecking lucky to have him right now and owe him some contrite respect for the foreseeable future after the disgraceful media-led witchhunt last year. I would hope even the English would step back and afford him some well-earned support now.

    Strange decision indeed in a way, though there's not much of a Canadian football team is there? From my own perspective I can well understand that for people people whose birth, parentage, upbringing and place of residency don't coincide, it's about how you feel.
