NO CL FOR BAYERN? Empty NO CL FOR BAYERN?

Post by Puro Sat Apr 21, 2007 4:28 pm

If Bayern don't play CL football next season, all you have do is look back to the date when Pizarro was made a substitute by Hitzfeld.

Bayern were doing really well in CL with Pizarro their most profilic scorer, most dangerous player. Sure Bayern weren't doing their usual best in the Bundesliga, but something had to give considering their great form in the CL. Bayern were still in position for a CL berth for next season even if they weren't gonna win the Bundesliga.

Enter Hitzfeld in January, and Bayern's great CL form was destroyed almost immediately when Hitzfeld made Podolski the starter over Pizarro. We know how the Inca Warrior brought Bayern back from the dead when he came in the second half in that first leg match at the Bernabeu.

Hitzfeld screwed up Bayern's great CL campaign this season (if something's not broken why fix it!), and now he's almost cost them a berth in NEXT SEASON'S CL. Biggrin <Ale>

While I'm obviously elated that we managed to put the nail in the coffin for Bayern's Meisterschaft ambitions and a damper on the CL quali hopes, I wouldn't blame Hitzfeld for the mess. He can only do so much with an unbalanced squad (never thought I'd say this in regards to Bayern affraid ).

They just lack something, or better someone this season. How Uli Hoeness believed they could survive in the title race with someone to replace Ballack is beyond me. And overall, they've seemed rather tightwadded lately (compared to other seasons, at least). Who did they sign again last summer? scratch Van Bommel, Podolski I remember... Anyone else?

He is a striker, but he has ZERO goals in the Bundesliga this year.

He again didn't save us today when he played the entire 2nd half.

Maybe he's not that great, just because you two were born on the same piece of land?

Congratulations on a great win today! Stuttgart have almost sealed the last CL berth for Bundesliga at Bayern's expense. Here's hoping you can hang on to it. Biggrin <Ale>

I sense some animosity towards Pizarro from you. He's scored the money goals many times for Bayern, the championship clinching goals. I think Pizarro and Makaay will leave Bayern. <Ale>

Posted my view on this in the matchday thread already. It can be a great chance for Bayern, but they have to use it, as explained there.

ok I really dont understand all of Puros hype around Pizzaro. And why would you not play Poldi, he was fantastic for Germany, and looked very good in league games.

He's been poor in the league, he got 4 goals so far.
