Unsurprisingly, I agree. I mainly quoted his pre-match punditry for comic effect, but someone took it seriously...

Yeah, I think that Fergie knows that this is bollocks, and is just trying to gee up Rooney to get him in the right mindset for the game. He's dead right about Rooney's habit of scoring the odd goals here and brace there - I don't think he's ever scored more than two games running, much for the reasons that I outlined the other day.

    May as well bump this.

Not to sure on the fitness of RVP still, if hes 50:50 then I suspect Adebayor WILL start, although he'll be far from match fitness so don't expect him to destroy you.

Arsenal have plenty of threat ..

Rooney and Ronaldo, must take the game by the scruff of the neck..

Ronaldo hasn't exactly been on fire against the big 3 this season, neither has Rooney to be honest.

The players that you'll need on their game is Scholes and Carrick. ok

    Manchester United need:

The BIG guns to fire on all cylinders .. Rooney, Ronaldo, Saha/Larrson, Scholes, Carrick, Giggs/Park .. Everyone

I dont care if people are calling Henry a choker, he can destroy Man United .. and that means Vidic and Rio must keep him or RVP/Adebayor quiet.

This might sound like a cliche .. the game will be won/lost or drawn in midfield..

He was the best player on the pitch in the earlier Man U Arsenal game, and didn't play v Liverpool. His game against Chelsea he did alright, despite being double teamed for most of the match.

The players that you'll need on their game is Scholes and Carrick. ok

I agree - in the absence of Gilberto, Arsenal's midfield lack a proper anchor and if Scholes and Carrick exploit that properly then it could make all the difference.

Are you playing Rosicky and Clichy on the left against Ronaldo/Neville?

It depends on RVPs fitness. If hes fit we'll go 4-5-1, if not then yes, it'll be clichy and Rosicky on the left

Either way, it's an attacking partnership down the left that could work very well for you if Ronaldo goes off and leaves Neville on his own.

Well as saints says, it could work either way. If Ronaldo drifts off, then Clichy and Rosicky will try and exploit Neville, neither are afrid of getting into the final third

I suppose so, but the team covers for each other. Ronaldo does what he likes, if he loses it he will be the one going back. If not rooney usually covers for him.

i don't know who I want to win,

    it's a win win really

If Arsenal win then it shortens the gap between us and united to 11 but even then I still don't think we have a chance of 1st place, also Chelsea would still be in with a chance of 1st then.

If United win then Chelsea will be in the race for second with us for the rest of the season most likely and Arsenal will fall behind us a bit more.

a draw would be a good result for Man Utd.

draw = 7 pts lead + GD = 8 pts lead over Chelsea

but i think we can win if Rooney is on form.

Arsenal must win. Draw is of no use, so if it's all squared with 15 minutes to play Arsenal should throw everything forward including the kitchen sink (aim at Ronaldo).

Arsenal fans lacking imagination and not being able to conceive of their team not winning?

What a surprise. Coming from the club that claimed to be better than the team it finished behind in the league...

I hope, for obvious reasons, that Arsenal win.

A 2-0 win for United with a brace from Rooney wouldn't surprise me though. He needs his annual Arsenal goal.
