They know that you've got ca$h to splash. So they are seeing how far they can push it.
Not even worth £2m IMO.

Thats exactly it...people say its silly announcing your budget but in fairness we didnt....its obvious the takeover has given us big cash...
I wouldve paid £6m for him as I think hes a good defender...hes English..played in the Prem before and only 26/27...
but £8m is a joke! same with West Brom wanting £10m for Davies

I suppose you could do with a replacement for Vidic or Ferdinand the way they've been embaressed recently

Nah, not really ..
Ivan Drago and Rio are the reason why Manchester United are top.

£8m?! £6m is the very highest anyone should pay for him, and even that is a bit steep. £4m would be fair IMO.

Joke figure for a player that is not even International class despite having a few caps. If he was that good clubs would have been in for him when they went down last season. Jermaine Pennant and others left to bigger things.
Spurs bought a Portuguese International from Benfica today for a much, much smaller fee. This is why clubs mainly look aboad now.
I would pay no more than 4 million for him. If West Ham give into Birminghams demands they really are dire situation.

Upson would do well to stay where he is. Brummies are looking good for an automatic promotion, while West Ham look all set for Championship next season. Maybe if the promotion doesnt materialize and West Ham still manage to stay in Premiership, he can move in Summer

And you used up all your energy doing so. Hence why you've conceded 7 in the two games since.Kimbo wrote:3-1 3-2.TeamSpirit wrote:It was Newcastle. Take note

The Brum are insane if they think a player who is not as good as Bale despite being a decade older is worth nearly as much.
Sorry, I relate everything to Gareth Bale now...

you mean those 3 points seperating us from Wigan with 14 games to go is making us look all set for the championship?

Truth is, if Poll and Rennie didn't purposely screw West Ham out of points last two games, West Ham would be out of relegation right now, and Wigan in its place instead.

Rennie didn't actually do much wrong in our game. He got the offside goal wrong but that was the linesmans decision and the ref should always trust their judgement, IMO. The penalty and disallowed goal decisions were correct.DD wrote:Truth is, if Poll and Rennie didn't purposely screw West Ham out of points last two games, West Ham would be out of relegation right now, and Wigan in its place instead.

@Saints and DD
@Kimbo...the thing is we would've gone in 2-0 up at half time...we wouldve been confident and your heads would've stayed low...
however the offside goal gave you confidence and it was a blow to ours...
I believe we wouldve taken 3 points...had we have gone in 2-0 at half time...

I thought he overruled the linesman, who did flag for off side.
You got the breaks this time Kimbo, but its harsh to be blatantly screwed out of points in the manner they've been last games when you're in a relegation battle.

Still robbed of 4 very costly points. Could (=likely to) prove vital.

Sure only 3 points separate you from Wigan and anything can happen. But then Upson would be in a way better off by staying put till June, when things become clearer. He can still move in June. But he is shafted if he moves now and the Hammers screw up.

oh yeah that point I agree with...Upson would be taking a risk but...
I believe we'll stay up....and Birmingham's promotion is not entirely a done deal when Preston,Derby and Southampton are all easily capable of taking those places

This sort of thing has happened before hasn't it - a player at a Championship team moving to a relegation-threatened Premiership team and then getting relegated and basically being back where he started, but at a new club with all the potential problems that throws up.
I'm trying to think of an example - I'm sure that Saints signed at least one player from the Championship who then got relegated with us.

Sure Brummies promotion is not sealed yet. But they are in the pole position for it. 3 points from top with two games in hand. It is the playoff places which will be really interesting to watch.
I personally feel Brum getting promoted is more likely than West Ham staying up. Though I would not be surprised if both teams are in premiership next season.
Anyway if I was in Upson's shoes, I would think twice before accepting a move to West Ham.
