I'm not totally sure, but his suggestion of limiting teams from England, Spain and Italy is and maybe through the UEFA coefficient give the 'lesser' nations compared to the big 3 (Germany, Holland, France, Portugal etc) a added team to the Champions League and UEFA Cup

We are speculating, does anyone know his plans .. we just have to wait and see.

I don't know. If Platini is also going to cut the number of teams, or even change the format a bit so there are less games, then that is a good thing IMO.

Any impact on competitiveness will be temporary as the rest of Europe catches up.

One thing that should be noted is how much it cocks up the rest of the league for those teams outside of 4th place.

Last season and the year before Everton and Spurs relied on one of the big 4 having an off season - plausable enough.

There's no way that 2 of them will though. Kind of makes the league pointless for anyone in the top 12.

we'll never compete as top 3 no chance...

yes every club needs to get a fair chance! It is clear nowadays the UEFA only choose to give the Englsih, Italians and Spainsh a chance.

True, but teams building towards a challenge at the top 4, like Spurs last year and you lot in 2003/2004 are now fucked really. It's going to be just like Scotland in a few years time - not that it's not bad enough already.


I'm torn on this whole thing. I like the idea of a more competitive UEFA cup, aswell as more evenly distributed wealth, but it's going to ruin the premiership in particular. Probably Serie A aswell...

a Competition that deprives every nation bar 3 (England, Spain and Italy) from revenue, places and fairness and uses the name UEFA .. is bogus.

UEFA is more than 3 nations, we cant simply deny nations who need the revenue to make their leagues better and more competitive so their players will stay (e.g. When Holland played Bulgaria, only 1 player who started the game plays his game in the Erevidise...) and make the teams compete on the same LEVEL PLAYING FIELD as FC Barcelona, AC Milan, Chelsea, Internazionale, Arsenal, Real Madrid etc.
