We let in 3 and basically gave up when he went off.

The guy has held our defence together this season, that's why we've let in the same amount of goals as the mighty Spurs with the might Ledders and Mr England international Dawson at the back. Ale

Oh You mean Ledley who's on the treatment table AGAIN?

After tomorrow it'll have been 17 games without him out of 38.

When the player is THAT good, you tend to ok.

Besides we don't have the cash to go spend shitloads on replacements if they flop/get injured.

I like how people say Taylor is shit and then you quizz them and all they can come up with is that hanball moment and the fact that he sometimes get caught out of position. Then you say 'well hes better than *another young defener* and they come back at you with the 'the guys only young' arguement.

Hes 21 FFS and he ISN'T shit Doh

And unlike Owen, King has actually played enough games for him to be important to Spurs.

On the subject of Owen... Does he ever actually go to the games on train? seems he does fuck all.

He was before his injury, 7 goals in 11 games for us, now... who knows. Martins isn't like Owen, he's not a poacher. ok

Do Given, N'Zogbia, Duff, and Dyer count as good players? They've missed alot of games this season.

As a striker? Pace, height, strength, heading ability, poacher's instinct, link-up play.

Owen has a poacher's instinct and is a decent header of the ball, particularly given his lack of height. He is no longer quick and was never strong. His link-up play is better than 5 years ago but he's too selfish and one-dimensional to be a second striker.

He's also got a terrible fitness record.

IN MY OPINION He will be a 10-15 goal a season man from now on, and not critical to Newcastle's success or failure.

So for £17m he's 'not that good' in my book. At £5m he'd have been a bargain.

The only thing that worries me about this transfer is Glen Roeder's comments - he's talking about Onyewu being an "impressive person" and "physically impressive"...hopefully a bit more football-evaluation went into deciding whether to sign him, not just the fact that he's a nice guy and tall.

He's got a point about him being physically impressive though.

    He's a real "measurement".

Even if this guy does well i don't see him as a long term partner for Taylor, more of a good back up. ok
