Just heard Chris Kamara say forget the top two, it should be a straight fight between Harry Redknapp and Steve Coppell.

I agree with Coppell, not as sure with Redknapp. Although I'd include Ferguson as well.

Mourinho had to deal with all the board bullshit - had to deal with loss of good players like Gallas, Gudjohnsen, Duff & Co - had to accomodate star players to keep Roman happy....and horrific injuries which at some point left them with no cover at the back - but yet they're still in the title race ok

    I actually disagree.

Although the board didn't help by selling Gallas, and the injuries to Petr Cech and John Terry haven't helped, United have been consistent throughout the entire season, whilst many people (including myself to be honest) didn't think they would be able to be so consistent. Sure Ronaldo has helped them out a huge amount in the league with goals and assists, but so has Drogba for us.

ok I dont think he intentionally wanted a smaller squad although he may say otherwise in the media, when he first came to Chelsea he said he wanted two class players to every squad he had the same philosophy at Porto and had a big squad, it was only that this summer did Gallas throw his toys out of his pram, Duff complained about not getting games, similar situation with Eidur, that he was forced to let them go, would Chelsea have sold Eidur if to their newly made rivals Barca, if he wanted to stay -- i doubt it.

Also it's taken time for likes of Kalou and Sheva to adapt to the EPL.. So there hasn't been real quick fix/replacement.

With the kind of budget Mourinho has anything but winning everything is a failure.. no coach in the world has it sooo easy.

He might have a few problems with Abramovich but there are many presidents/owners who are a lot more demanding and meddling.

BTW, isn't it time to finally give some credit to Queiroz work?

Not only Man Utd looks a great team this season (you can't blame Queiroz for the bad and hail SAF for the good...), but also it looks a much more ready team for the new European reality...

Don't be silly, the mass media almost to a man have decided they don't like Queiroz, probably because he's the opposite of Mourinho - mild mannered, uncontroversial, quiet, reserved. They started their anti-Queiroz movement about 4 years ago and made him a scapegoat for Man U's 'failure' since then. Of course, when Man U won two trophies in that period, no-one mentioned Queiroz. So now they're in a great position to win the league this season, don't expect anyone to mention Queiroz.

For the record, I rate him both as a man and as a coach. Ferguson has never been a tactically astute coach, but Man U's ability to vary their play is second to none (in the EPL). A lot of the credit for that should go to Queiroz.

Yep, there still loads of fans who blame him for the 4-3-3 without realising Fergie would never consider it unless he wanted it.

I think the criticism more stemmed with his fall out with certain players. However those reports could be bullshit.

He doesnt, fergie does all interviews apart from bbc ones. cq was with us the last time we won the league i rate him, but the manchester man utd fans lets say just never drop grudges.

Coppell should be manager of the season, although for me, Curbishley has brought most happiness.
