we all know the Brazilian team is going through a transitional phase. Dunga is testing new strikers and full-backs. Carlos and Cafu are too old, as well as Ronaldo. we also need to establish a fixed formation.

Brazilians and non-Brazilians, which would be your team?

    mine:

    ------------------------Júlio César--------------------------

    Dani Alves---------Lúcio-----------Juan-----------Kléber----

    -----------Gilberto Silva-------------Mineiro-----------------

    ---------------------------Kaká----------------------------

    My Brazil at the mo:

    ------------------------Júlio César--------------------------

    Maicon---------Lúcio-----------Juan-----------------Kléber

    -------------------------Gilberto Silva-----------------------
    Mancini-------------------Kaká---------------------Robihno
    --------------------------Ronaldinho------------------------

    --------------------------Adriano----------------------------

When Cicinho, Dida, Emerson and Ronaldo are back or in form, they can take their place. The Emperor is back in form, he can make the World XI tonight!

I guess the ones who put Kléber as left-back only did it for lack of options, since I doubt you Europeans know him... Very Happy

he's Santos's left back. and he never misses a cross.

who's that Alves you're putting as a striker?

I have heard a lot about him... and yeah, there are a lack of options... Brazil need to get over Carlos, and Maxwell is too much of a greenhorn, mostly playing for the primavera at Inter! Adriano is not yet proven at the highest level, and IMO below in the pecking order to Maxwell.... For a moment I even thought of putting Serginho there, but then, thats hardly a solution!

    ok

That's a very good one - I'd have that but maybe someone else instead of Baptista in that position and Julio Cesar instead of Gomes.

    GK's (3) Helton, Gomes, Ceni?

DF - Alvez, Gilberto, Adriano, Cicinho, Juan, Alex, Lucio, Luisao

MF - Gilberto S, Minero, Kaka, Elano, Dudu, Mancini, Carvalho

FW - Ronaldinho, Robinho, Adriano, Ronaldo, Sobis

    Team:

    ------------Gomes
    Alvez---Lucio---Juan---Gilberto
    -----Gilberto S---Minero-------
    --------------Kaka--------------
    Robinho------Ronaldo-----Ronaldinho

Surprised no one has mentioned Gilberto for LB, always looks good to me. Robinho is a live wire, and should definitely play. Chose Ronaldo as not convinced by the other CF's. Not seen anything of Pata or Liesdon.

Think Alex could be tried as a DM also.

Diego probably unlucky to miss out, but I'm not sure he offers anything different to the squad. Could take the place of Elano though.

    no, thank you very much.

your formation is like mine: 4-3-3.

I think Ronaldinho can play alongside Kaká if he plays as a left winger. we could have 2 DMs (Gilberto and Mineiro) to keep it safe and attack with one of our full-backs at a time.

Gilberto is very good. he'd be Kléber's sub in my team. I got a feeling Dunga will call Kléber next time. Pato will have to wait a bit. Let's see how he'll do at the Olympics. he's still 17, but he's better than Robinho and, more important, isn't a diver. Anyway, Robinho is also a very good player and could fit alright.

    Robinho-Adriano/Fred-Ronaldinho

I don't know much about Mineiro but I put him in because everyone else had him and I couldn't think of another suitable midfielder. Obviously I'm going for the Barcelona template here, but I'm undecided on Adriano - he's in great form, but I don't know if he's dynamic enough. Pato is brilliant but still too young to start.

    Based on current season

    ----------------Gomes---------------

Dani Alves - Pepe - Alex - Adriano

    --------Mineiro---------Lucas--------

    --Kaka-------Diego-----Ronaldinho-

    -----------------Alves-----------------

Last week I watched an interview with Cafu. At 37 he said that he still wants to play for Brazil. No joke.

Gomes is still young and has been very consistent over the past 3 years. Julio Cesar and Helton are reliable choices as well.

I think that Brazil can play with two offensive full backs as long as we have two DMs. Alves and Adriano started their careers playing as full backs and are having an incredible season.

Pepe and Alex are the best central defenders of their respective leagues. Lucio is too crazy, he can't control his nerves. Sometimes Juan makes silly mistakes.

Lucas and Mineiro were by far the best players of the brazilian league last season. Mineiro is a little bit too old (31) and Lucas is a little bit young (20), but both can mark very well and have excelent passing. Lucas won the golden ball. I've watched several Arsenal and Barcelona matches this season, Edmilson and Gilberto are missing too many easy passes.

Diego is having the best season of his career. Best player of Bundesliga. Ronaldinho is still the best player in the world and Kaka is having a good season.

I've watched Heerenven a few times this season and Alves was very impressive. He also started his career at my fav club and I'm biased. Smile In fact Brazilian strikers haven't been consistent. Adriano, Fred, Sobis...Robinho is far away from being the player once he was. Pato is an excellent porspect, but he is only 17 and so far he didn't play more than a handful of matches as a pro.

Keep Emerson, Dida, Cafu, Carlos and Ronaldo away. I'll be forever thankful for what they have done, but right now Brazil need new players.

What's amazing is that Brazil haven't really found a heir for Ronaldo. Robinho, Sobis, Olivera & Love probably work best as SS. Adriano is too one footed, and I don't think he is consistent enough finisher. Don't think Fred has the quality to lead the Brazilian front line. I gather Pato will be a future SS or no 10? I've not seen anything of Alvez, so I can't comment.

Pato can be a 10 or a SS. not a striker.

also all of us seem to have forgotten (or at least I have) about Anderson (Porto), who looks to be a huge talent. Unfortunately he has been injured, but hopefully he will be back for the CL games.

At the current form Alex and Gomes can't be in the line up... They are
completely off form! But based on the first half of the season!
they must be in there 100% for sure!

On Alves.... he is out for at least a month with a knee injury. He is

man, I have no idea who is this alves guy.

those players are going too early to europe. I think we should make a law to keep them at least until they are 23 or something. they need more time in here to learn their football from the South American school.

not that Europe isn't good, but it's a question of football identity. we cannot lose it. they gotta play like wild cats for some time before being tamed and civilized in Europe.

You are right... there are dozens of brazilians in the new national league in India..... none bigger than the current top footballer in India - Jose Ramirez Barreto...

I am quite sure no one has even heard of him in Brazil, perhaps he wasn't good enough to make it there, but in India he is a star!
