I knew after the game this week would be a nightmare....He couldn't make contact with the ball because Lennon had lost control of it

nah you are totally right saints.Saintsarama MBE wrote:Parks lives wrote:Gerrard's been poor Saints.
I'm not convinced, as I've seen numerous good moments from him this season. On the other hand, I've only seen him over a full 90 minutes a couple of times, so perhaps I'm not judging his form that accurately. On the other hand, it's not like the press have been blathering on and on about him as they have in prior seasons, so to call him overhyped is dubious.
he'll probably win our player of the season again. between him and carragher anyway. he has been recieving fuck all hype anyway so can hardly be classed as overhyped.
scholes and rooney have recieved the most hype this season. one legitimately and one not

I really can't see how Gerrard's had a much better season than Rooney.
Both been disappointing when needed and both been highly inconsistent.

Re: Most Hyped Englishman of the Season
Gotta go with Pip on this.
Agger and Finnan should be way ahead of Gerrard for player of the season but one hasn't played enough to please most people and the other was shit at the very start.
If Gerrard had kicked on from last season then we'd be up there at the moment. The Mancs have Ronaldo, Chelsea have Drogba... if we had Gerrard at his best then there would be much of a difference. Cest La Vie, or however the frogs spell it.
Saints is right about Carragher though. The underhyping is criminal. Criminal.

We're a special case. No defence looks good against us. Didn't you see Vidic?! it was only Cech's first game back anyways and they had no Carvalho.

Re: Most Hyped Englishman of the Season
this thread is about overhype obi. what you are spank are really doing is underhyping him in comparative terms on the basis that he hasn't been up to his normal, incredible standard. he has barely recieved any hype in the press this year
he's still had a very good season and has been playing well pretty consistently for the past few months. the goal tally is down on last season because as you well know he has more freedom as a winger and has had two good games against the mancs and barca since he returned there.
also carragher has been much more influential than agger for the past few months as well . a good start to the season isn't enough to nudge agger ahead

Shhhhh.. The fact that you broke through the middle of our defence is completely void as it ruins the whole "John Terry is shit" theory.
The problem with Terry imo, is that he is recovering "too quickly". Could barely walk against Fulham, playing 90 minutes 3 days later against Levski. Came back 2 weeks quicker than expected after christmas and was then injured again. Came back too quickly and got injured against Porto. Back 4 days later against Arsenal (OK, nobody could see that injury coming). If he actually did a "Ledley King" and wasn't putting himself at risk of yet another injury by returning too quickly, he might be able to play without any problems.
Cech is more important to the team, but Terry is still greatly missed (Boula out doesn't help either, because it means we have to play Essien in midfield).

Funnily enough I was in no mood to watch MotD on Saturday.
Nobody is better than Agger. You're just jealous that all of that money couldn't buy you a decent scouting network.

Hardly takes a great scouting network to sign the Danish league player of the year... But Benitez deserves a lot of credit for giving him the chance.. most big clubs would have stuck him on the bench forever..

Re: Most Hyped Englishman of the Season
No suprise to see Kimmy & Deano going after Aaron Lennon
Take off those tinted glasses Deano, it was a stonewall penalty. Bowyer dived in, missed the ball & took him out. Kimmy's just pissed because Boro's full-backs pocketed Milner & N'Zog$hit on Saturday.
*As for my vote, the soap opera surrounding John Terry's injuries has taken the biscuit, conviniently ignoring that there was a point where they were down to their 3rd choice 'keeper and forced to play the piss-poor Paolo Ferreira in Central Defence. He would make Titus Bramble seem like the vital component if he (Ferreira) came in for the the error-prone Newcastle defender.
Carragher's hype is about right - considering that he was very poor at the start of the season... and that shocking performance at the Emirates.

If that's not a penalty - the pen Reo-Coker got vs. Watford (which Harewood missed) isn't one either.

Re: Most Hyped Englishman of the Season
N'Zogbia blew Lennon out of the water last season, if you took off your white-tinted glasses you would see this. More goals, more spectacular goals, and more assists.Im Kind Of A Big Deal wrote:Kimbo wrote:You're right about most of his hype happening last season, despite N'Zogbia totally blowing him out of the water. Going into this season your average gullible football fan already rated him as one of the best in the league.
You're a stand up comedian- NZogbia has never blown him out of the water.
And after yesterday, the mere mention of Lennon as "overrated" after winning that penalty with a touch of pure class and setting up Tainio with the sublimest of mid air backheels is just ridiculous timing. At least wait until he's just played a bad game so you can get your ritualistic dig in
And he dived for the penalty, i don't see why people aren't admitting to this. It's not like he hasn't done it before.
TeamSpirit wrote: Kimmy's just pissed because Boro's full-backs pocketed Milner & N'Zog$hit on Saturday.
Boro sat back and doubled up on the Zog and Milner, it wasn't just the fullbacks. And considering it was the Zogs first game after 3 months out injured and Milner is looking knackered after playing nearly every game this season, i think they can be let off.

Well, let's just say that Lennon is clearly going down before the contact on his knee. I wouldn't call it a dive, as such, but he does go down a bit cheaply.
I think it's one of those that is a foul but a soft penalty. I can see why Hammers fans would be pissed off at it but you're right, those ones are usually given.

Well mate, when you listen constant dissaprovable after dissaprovable 'bout our performance, you do have to defend your team, no?
Sorry, I have defended my team and admitted we didn't deserve the win, but yet I hear, particulary from one bitter individual, that we were lucky, Lennon dived, we Definetly didn't deserve to win or even Draw etc etc...Jeez.....I have the right to defend my team from such bitterness...

Re: Most Hyped Englishman of the Season
i think there's a slight difference between defending your team and "You's lot always be a cunt and will die a cunt's...."
for a start, defending your team would generally require writing sentences that make sense.
