The competition reaches the final 8, and there are no longer the national nor group stage clashes, which means every team can meet one another.

The Premiership still has the most representatives with 3 teams still in it. Serie A is next with 2 teams.

    You'd do 'em.

Would be cool to have those fixtures while they're battling for the title (which is far from over).

I'd like to see Liverpool against a team that's less predictable than we were in terms of tactics, someone like Roma or PSV. Roma especially IMO are real wild-cards among this group of 8 - they haven't been this far in a few seasons, so no one knows what to expect.

Chelsea-Milan would be a good matchup too, we'll see whether pedigree can beat Mourinho's challengers. As will Chelsea-Man. Utd., for the reasons Stefan pointed out.

well no matter the draws it will be another year of tactical football. can anyone mention a game this round that was entertaining and had quality.
the first game with Real-bayern was entertaning because of the goals and bad defending but lacked alot of quality. CL is becoming sadder and sadder untill they change it back to the 2nd group stage.

They have never been so far in the CL!!

But I don't think anyone wants to draw a team like Roma - they are totally unpredictable, and their tactics are hard to counter.

The only way to beat them (which is easily possible over 2 legs - 1 game would have been way to unpredictable) is to attack them from the start! Like Inter did all 5 times we have played them in the last 12 months, mindless relentless attack - they will not be able to withstand that over 2 legs... I think the only teams which are be quite sure of beating Roma are Valencia and ManU (assuming these teams play at their top form). Not saying they are the best teams, just that they can play the way the romans hate... anyone else, its 50-50.

Yeah, which is why it would be amazing to see them play against Liverpool or Chelsea, whose managers both rely heavily on their ability to figure out the opposition and tailor their own team to counter the rival's threats.

Last time I jinxed it for us by saying that I don't care who we have to play in our group, as long as it's not Barça and Chelsea together. I don't want to do the same for die Lederhosen, the Bundesliga needs those points. Very Happy

either Milan or ManU for Bayern , please

Milan simply because German-Italian duels are the best in the world

ManU , because they have truckloads of fans world-wide; beating them would cause a few ripples and break many hearts

besides, they are hopeless with their rubbish strikers

    Germany vs Holland, always fireworks!

And Totti was not particularily amused when Valencia beat Roma a few months ago... it will be a great game anyways, as both teams are now is good form unlike when they met previously

There are probably more Dutchies playing for Bayern than for PSV these days, so the Germany vs. Holland thing won't really work I'm afraid.

PSV are dreadful as well; they have about 1 Dutchie these days

would hardly make for a German - Dutch game

besides, Dutch football is in such decline these days that the real cracker, the PREMATURE FINAL would be

    Bayern vs Milan

If Van Bommel plays like today, they actually won't miss him badly at all. Not only didn't he not play well, but hurt his team with those stupid bookings also.

Ottl or Demichelis will probably replace him, which means that Hargreaves will get a more free role in the central midfield (Bayern play with two DMCs).

Between Hargreaves and Demichelis, they have enough cover.

I think the CL winner will be from Valencia, Liverpool, Roma, and Bayern.

Today (yesterday) he wasn't needed, he stepped up when times were desperate....that's when he'll be missed.

It was a harsh decision, but especially the first booking was just stupid by Van Bommel. Absolutely unnecessary.

AFAIK, he will only miss one match anyway, and will be back for the rematch.

The whole world should pray for Chelsea vs Liverpool.

Get one of them out of the way early. I'd bet on two 0-0's and a penalty shoot out as well.

    I'd like

Man United vs Roma (a team that'll attack us)
AC Milan vs PSV (A repeat of the great semi final two seasons ago)
Liverpool vs Chelsea (reasons stated above)
Bayern vs Valencia (two teams left)
