I think the poll shows that it is very very close, and anyone's game.

I think that two EPL clubs will draw each other, the chances are high at least. If it will be Liverpool vs. United again, we can basically close the board for a couple of months though.

Don't give a fuck about the draw, just hope Roma & Valencia will do well, don't like any of the other clubs.

From an Englishman's perspective, two of the EPL teams drawing each other would be bad.

Interesting that the 'supposedly' strongest league in the world olny has one team left in the comp....

^^ What's that supposed to mean?

Barca have been comparatively poor this season, as have Madrid. That's plain to see. Nonetheless, they were edged out in what were expected to be tough games. No shame in losing to Bayern or Pool. Sevilla, I imagine are possibly the most in form-consistent Spanish side this season, yet they're not even in the comp. La Liga/EPL/Serie A are all pretty much on a par.

That was because of the playoff system and because Ajax was pants.

If AZ would have gotten their rightful place we would have had 2 teams left !

Does anyone know the exact percent chance that there will be an all EPL quarter final, it seems inevitable really.

The chance to draw an English team is exactly 2/7 (~29%) for a EPL side, and 3/7 (~43%) for the others. Easy.

    3 EPL teams 5 others: n=8

1 EPL team can only face one other, so maximum one EPL matchup, thus --->
    2/7=28.6%

That's for just one random EPL matchup, any of Liv-Man, Liv-Che, Man-Che.
For one in particular its a bit different.

    Then its 1/8 x 1/7 = 1/56 = 1.79%
Coincidentally also the odds of predicting one particular matchup.

I'm thinking of a different number (don't know if I'm right though).

The chance of no English encounter is :

The first English side has to draw against 7 teams, 2 of those are English so it's 5/7 chance of a non-English encounter.

The second English side now has to draw against 5 team, 1 of those is English so it's a 4/5 chance of a non-English encounter.

The third English side now automatically draws a none-English side.

    So the chance of a non-English-English encounter is (5/7) * (4/5) = 20/35

    The chance of an English - English encounter therefore is 1 - (20/35) = 15/35 =~ 43 %

    You're right Embarassed
Horrible amateur mistake of mine (considered my knowledge of statistics).

And also the chance any team facing each other (as the first team to be selected, or just chosen beforehand) isn't 1,79%, but plain 14,3%

    I knew something wasn't right.

Roma would be the best draw luis, they're like a worse version of Barca in attack, though with a much better defence
