Arnaud is beautiful wrote:I voted for Giggsy.Always liked him and i really think he was 1 of the first modern winger. This guy has a fantastic technic but unlike Figo,he doesn't use it.He always use his pace and does simple passes.

Both are wonderful wingers but Figo has been overhyped in 2000 when he signed for Madrid. In 2000 he won the euro player of the year award but in fact Zizou was the daddy (he won the calcio+EC with France and was awesome during the tournament.Do you remember the semi France-Portugal ? Zizou was clearly superior to Figo.)

    Giggs for me <ale>

he didnt win anything with Juve that season. Zidane may have been slightly better than Figo in Euro 2000, but Figo did produce some great displays in the league and CL.

    Figo is a c**t but what a player !

Best player in the world for a short time around the turn of the century when he was a left midfielder and still brilliant when he played on the right.

Figo is a judas c**t of highest order.

Giggs any given day and twice on Sundays.

Before people say Giggs is not as good after he lost his pace. How come he ended with better and longer career than Figo? Figo, Ronaldinho, Rui Costa and other flashy players will always be overhyped than Giggs, Zidane and Scholes. yes, they were excellent when they were at peak and on form. But you can't gauge talent when they have failed to keep that form for longer periods.

Zidane was a flashy player. Some might say he is more flashy and aesthetically pleasing than effective.

Figo was an important player for Inter up until he Nedved broke his leg at the end of 2008. Even then, Mourinho still used him to inject some creativity into the side last season. He retired at the age of 36 so he had quite a long career. I think he kept his form at least as well as Giggs. Both had dips and some poor seasons.

One of the things makes Zidane great is he is flashy as well as effective. But still people go on about Ronaldinho for flashing skills which is not bad. It turns wrong when they rate him above Zidane.

Figo had poor seasons for Real when he was consistently hyped as a Galactico. Giggs had been a key proponent and consistently involved in title-winning seasons at United.

It depends if you're comparing Ronaldinho at his peak to Zidane at his peak, then one could rate Dinho over Zidane.

You don't think Giggs had any poor seasons?

Aside from 05-06, his last, Figo didn't really have any poor seasons for us. He was immense in his first, then suffered a terrible ankle injury in his second campaign, but after he fully recovered he was excellent until his talent was not able to hide the years any longer.

Even so, your criteria for rating Giggs so much more compared to Figo is shakey at best.

He meant 04-05. 05-06 was his first season at Inter, which was surprisingly good.

    Giggs had a dodgy 02-03 and 05-06.

I didn't follow United closely in 02-03. I remember when they played Juve that apparantly the media were on his back for some poor form. Maybe it was just though - poor form, rather than a poor season.

Awesome in Madrid's books is for what? A Zidane roulette, Figo penalty or Beckham freekick? You didn't play 'very well'. On the contrary, you were very shaky and in the end, went tumbling down.

Yes that is all that Madrid fans rate. Erm

Consider that we were playing very well in the Cl until before the second leg of the quarters against Monaco and that we had around a 9 point lead in March(around that) and in the cup final. The football was very good but because of the small squad and Quiroz there was some big lapses like against Sevilla. So I have no idea what you are talking about.
