Hargreaves, As Bad As We Thought? Empty Hargreaves, As Bad As We Thought?

Post by None Sat Mar 24, 2007 11:16 pm

A year ago the curly-haired scamp was a laughing-stock, in pubs, glottal stop sporting urchins would cry out "for Ingerlun? Hargreaves? Drop me right out my son". A few months later, after running his little curly socks off amongs such esteemed names as Kenwyne Jones, and Jorge Guagua, he was the toast of these same pubs, "in he got an engine though? Cor, he can run, he's a player, I tell ya". Rumours of £20-30m bids from Utd abound.

But what is he? The indispensible, giving his all, heart of a team? Or a talentless Perm-pal, who can run a bit?

The problem is that us English are very ignorant towards other Leagues in Europe especially outside of Italy and Spain. Hargreaves was playing well for Bayern and was winning prize after prize in Barvaria. Sven seen Lampard and Gerrard week after week in the Premiership and they were his automatic starters. Hargreaves had cameos, usually in positions that were not natural to him like fullback.

The moment we put him in his natural position he emulates his Bayern form. I think he is class, but not worth £20 million. He is certainly Man Utd class though.

Run, Run, Run, Run and Run some more! Alternatively you could buy a Spaniard who, walks, walks, walks, walks and walks some more! Each will do the same job, until the Smurf meets a Mountain Gorilla, and then it's walking up the mountains.

The genuinely funniest moment of WC 2006: Hargreaves scores the only penalty for England, a player who grew up and learned to play football in Germany. Very Happy

They can shoot him down again, but nobody can take that away from him.

    ok I agree ..

Hargreaves has been good for England at the WC and afterwards .. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has stated that Bayern wont be forced to sell .. i would like to see him in a Man United shirt next season.

Err, Targey - I'm talking about the 2001 CL - Where Bayern Munich (who Hargreaves has ALWAYS played for) eliminated Madrid in the Semi-Finals Ale

You are talking about the 2002 CL which you won vs. Leverkusen. Neuville, Ballack, Nowotny, Ze Roberto etc.

If there is one thing to learn right now is that even if Frings is better than Hargreaves, it means fuck all if the team isnt.

Right now I kid you not, the England U21s could beat the senior team, despite on paper having 11 inferior players.

Difference is the under21's has decent management, system, and plays without fear.

The game against italy u21s >>>>>>>>>>>>>> then anything ive seen from the senior team since 2004

You are right Pele, your U21 side looks really promising, and their coach is probably the main reason for that. Playing the best players on their right positions would actually make your senior team look much better immediately also, it really is not rocket science.

For 75 minutes DB7 ran the show at Wembley, including a curling free kick and helped out with a later fabulous stike by a certain W.R (not 00zero).

The way the ball was passed around by supposed "inexperienced" youngsters should make the senior side take a look at themselves

Well, two good players are still better than just one though. Frings is better than Hargreaves (atm), okay, but with a German passport Hargreaves would surely belong in our national team imo. Apart from that, he is a few years younger than Frings...

Yes, I think he would. Bremen don´t want to sell him though, but Frings said recently, he would like to play abroad and that he had offers from other clubs, which he had to think about, because it would probably be his last chance to move abroad considering his age. Latest rumours are Juve, Real and also English clubs. Not sure whether that´s true or whether he just wants more money (which wouldn´t surprise me in Frings case). However Werder Bremen try to extend his contract atm, even though he still has two years left...
