    Good to see 3 City players in the England U21 squad, could have been 4 if Richards hadnt been promoted to the full team.

    Still i think the England wont win it my money will go on Italy.

    Italy have a very good crop of youngsters coming up, it ensures that the Azzurri will maintain their level for the next 10 years... by which time the kids inspired by the WC win will take over....

    Italy badly need a protagnist to replace Totti... Will Rosina rise to that challenge? Or Montolivo or Foggia? Only time will tell...

    Coach Foppe de Haan always forgot him! He rates Kenneth Vermeer Shocked . That guy is far from top class! Krul, the 18 year old super talent from Den Haag, is a much bigger talent!

    He wasn't even selected if keeper Piet Veldhuis (Vitesse) was in the squad! Doh

    He is a CM, bit of an all rounder looks good going forward, decent passer, always gives 100% and gets stuck in, but without running around like a headless chicken. He is only 18 (as well as being in the U21s he is also in the U19s) and has a lot of potential, he has done very well since coming in always looking very calm and a good pro.

    It won't be the Dutch either, we're back to our old form in youth championships.

    All the great youth players have already played a long season and are cancelling this tournament in order to have another good season for their clubs....and I can't blame them.

    Azzurrini Euro squad revealed
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Pierluigi Casiraghi has named his Italy squad for the Under-21 European Championship this summer. There are few surprises with Roma’s Alberto Aquilani making the squad after a season disrupted by injury, while Giuseppe Rossi’s goals to keep Parma in the top-flight have been recognised too. Arsenal owned striker Arturo Lupoli, who will join Fiorentina next month, has missed out though.

    Goalkeepers: Consigli (Sambenedettese), Curci (Roma), Viviano (Brescia)

    Defenders: Andreolli (Inter), Canini (Cagliari), Chiellini (Juventus), Coda (Udinese), Criscito (Genoa), Mantovani (Chievo), Potenza (Fiorentina), Raggi (Empoli)

    Midfielders: Aquilani (Roma), Cigarini (Parma), Dessena (Parma), Lazzari (Piacenza), Montolivo (Fiorentina), Nocerino (Piacenza), Padoin (Vicenza), Rosina (Torino)

    Forwards: Palladino (Juventus), Pazzini (Fiorentina), Pellè (Cesena), Giuseppe Rossi (Parma)

    Serbia has the best odds 9/1. Its a tough group but Serbia could upset and go all the way - literrally anyone can qualify from that group. I'd only put Italy as favourites really.

    of Group A, Holland: easy group (Portugal and us will go on), good squad and home advantage. But not good odds - those are "will Brazil win the WC" odds. Which we aren't even though we won the U-21 WC.

    Semis will be Italy-Portugal, Netherlands- ? (England?)

    from then on your guess is as good as mine.

    ok Sometimes I think the bookies don't watch or read enough football... Serbia youth are very very good. Easily the best odds.

    Italy probably start as favourites, but then the odds reflect that so its not worthwhile to bet on them.

    Portugal;

    Goalkeepers; João Botelho(Santa Clara), Paulo Ribeiro(Porto), Ricardo Batista(Fulham).

    Defence; Semedo(Cagliari), Amoreirinha(Amadora), Rolando(Belenenses), Antunes(Paços) João Pereira(Gil Vicente), José Goncalves(Hearts), M: Da Costa(PSV), Veloso(Sporting).

    Midfield; Oliveira(Marítimo), M. Fernandes(Everton), Organista(Pontevedra), Moutinho(Sporting), Machado(Leiria), Amorim(Belenenses).

    Strikers; R. Vaz Té(Bolton), Nani(Sporting), Y. Djalo(Sporting), H. Almeida(W. Bremen), Moreira(Valencia), Varela(Setúbal).

    Such a good squad almost any eleven players are equal, but I'd like;

    ------------------------Ribeiro
    -Amoreirinha--Da Costa--Rolando---Antunes
    ------------------------Veloso
    -------Moutinho-----Fernandes-----Nani
    ----------------Djalo-------Almeida.

    Not a bad squad ..

    Not a bad squad indeed. It's a shame though that we're missing a few key players like Kompany, Dufour and Dembele.

    Motta is more talented uf you ask me... less experienced, but more potential.... I say this inspite of Potenza being an Inter product!

    This would hurt the azzurini tho - coz Potenza, Mantovani, Andreolli & Chiellini have a fantastic understanding with each other... and its always tough to lose yr captain at the last minute... I guess Chiellini will be captain now...

    Azzurrini lose Potenza Thursday 7 June, 2007

    Fiorentina defender Alessandro Potenza has been forced to withdraw from Italy’s Under-21 European Championship squad. The stopper was one of 23 players named by boss Pierluigi Casiraghi for the Holland tournament which kicks off on Sunday. However, Potenza has suffered a muscle strain which will rule him out of the competition.

    Casiraghi is allowed to replace the Viola talent and he’s called in Marco Motta who was already on the stand-by list. Motta, 21, is highly rated in the peninsula and has just ended a decent campaign with mid-table Udinese in Serie A. Italy will kick off their Group B campaign against Serbia on Monday night in Nijmegen at 19.45pm UK time.
