Oh, and according to dpa, who are quite reliable, Chelski paid 13 Million Euros for him, just as I had expected. That's ~8.84 million Pounds. A bargain for Chelsea I guess.

what the hell is going on with HSV, totally stupid guys
1. there only average strikers there
2. lost both central defenders (buyten, kalihi)
i think schalke and leverkusen both with better chances this year to reach the third place in the league

Very strange deal. Might it be Salomon Kalou will move to HSV now, at least on a loan deal? 13 Million Euro isn't a good price for Boulahrouz in my eyes.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the registration deadline for the CL end on August, 15th? Where will the HSV find a replacement for Boulahrouz who is allowed to play for them in the CL?
And will Boulahrouz be a regular at Chelski or will he have to warm the bench for most of the time?

Wow, their hasn't been a EPL cloak-and-dagger transfer like this since Andrew cole moved to Man Utd in 1995.
Like most on here probably have said, Chelsea are getting a cynical, tough, gritty, versaltile, mobile defender - no area of his game seems to be a major weak point, so it's a good deal I guess.
Chelsea have enough cash that they'll still make Gallas suffer.

Deadline is August 15th, but three additional players can be nominated until August 31st latest AFAIK.
Problem is chrissi: I'd be very surprised to see HSV qualify for the CL now.
For Chelski, it's an excellent deal. Can't say the same for HSV, I agree.

And they still desperately need a striker.....it would make sense

Will be interesting to see who will replace him indeed. So far, Beiersdorfer always managed to get a proper replacement, maybe he will do it again this time? Time will tell.
Still quite a shock for the HSV fans, it doesn't really make sense. HSV got roughly the same sum they could earn by qualifying for the CL, something they definitely have risked with this transfer, even if they get a proper replacement. The central defence simply needs to gel.
And I agree with Axe, they really need a class striker to have chance in the European competition.

Hmm, but which class striker might it be? Milan Baros? Do they really want to spend 10 Million for him? Or maybe Rafael Sobis?blutgraetsche wrote:Will be interesting to see who will replace him indeed. So far, Beiersdorfer always managed to get a proper replacement, maybe he will do it again this time? However they're going a high risk with regard to the Osasuna match on Tuesday...the good thing is, if the HSV waste the CL, we'll be 6+ Million richer in the same moment.

This is absolutely not good for the German league though...
Contra-dictionary as it may sound, all the other teams will profit from a strong HSV IMO.

The bad thing is, that the UEFA Cup is much less of a problem for them in the Bundesliga than the Champions League is, means it's less exhausting for their squad, making them more competitve in the league. This is especially important for HSV, because their squad lacks depth. Still, I do expect them to have problems this season (at the beginning at least), no matter who they buy as a replacement, they simply have to form a completely new team.
I seriously doubt that they will be serious contenders for the title now though.

Yep, exactly. He might think what I'm still doing here when all the other top class players leave? What if they lose the CL qualification and start struggling in the Bundesliga? The HSV can't expect a player like him to stay playing for an UEFA Cup place...Axeslammer ! wrote:chrissicross wrote:

You may have a point, but seriously, in this situation, it is better for the league if HSV does not play in the Champions League. They can earn more points for us in the UEFA cup I'm afraid, they wouldn't really stand a chance in the CL.
In the long run, I still believe that we will have a strong HSV. Remember that last year was their first good season for a while. HSV is just starting to become a top club, you can't expect them to hold on to their players like Bayern can. My club Werder Bremen had to sell quite a few key players in the past also, still we always managed to replace them well. In the long run, we became even stronger. HSV are in a similar situation like we were in 2004, after we won the double. But, they should not have sold all of their key players with the exception of VDV, that's not what we did at least. We are a few steps ahead, and they want to go the same path. Even if no HSV fan will admit it, but Werder is actually a role model for HSV these days.

If they don't significantly strange their squad again they can't even expect to become third in the Bundesliga in my eyes. And if they find proper replacement it still takes time to create a good team...really, they need a wonder with regard to the Osasuna match...blutgraetsche wrote:chrissicross wrote:

But we have KATS. The HSV have only Doll and Beiersdorfer...blutgraetsche wrote:In the long run, I still believe that we will have a strong HSV. KATS can not be replaced. My biggest fear is that once Hoeness retires in a few years, Bayern may try to lure Allofs to Munich. Imagine someone like Allofs and the budget of Bayern - they'd be unbeatable. Hoeness might be very good when it comes to the financial aspect, but nobody comes even (k)close to Allofs when transfers are concerned, he is a genius.
Hope that he won't though, hope that he and Thomas Schaaf create a true European top club on their own.

Yeah, that's my biggest nightmare as well...sell anyone else, but Allofs must stay in Bremen. Let's hope both Allofs and Schaaf will never leave...blutgraetsche wrote:KATS can not be replaced. My biggest fear is that once Hoeness retires in a few years, Bayern may try to lure Allofs to Munich.

why on earth would kalou go to HSV when he's only just arrived at chelsea?

Agree, doesn't make any sense, and won't happen anyway. Huth transfer won't happen either btw. Chelsea just paid the price, no big deal for them.

If Huth doesn't find a new club very soon, he can basically forget about his international career at least.

Selling Boulahrouz at the moment is not a good deal for the HSV imo, even for 13 Million Euro. So I thought Chelsea might sell or loan a player to the HSV as part of the deal. HSV is certain to need a striker and Salomon Kalou was their wish player number one, and during the negotiations he made clear he could imagine to play for the HSV. And I've read Kalou is more a future player for Chelsea so they would probably agree on a loan deal to give him enough match practice, at the HSV he would be striker number one and could perhaps play CL as well. So the Boulahrouz deal would have been a win-win situation imo...S4P wrote:why on earth would kalou go to HSV when he's only just arrived at chelsea?
