    So... ZerRO-Oney is no longer - two goals in 2 games in the knockout stages of the Champions league.

    Meanwhile Poldi has managed to choke his way through with Pizarro offering him a bit of mouth to mouth at the end of each game.

    So who is the better player? Whistle

    sorry Effenberg and blut

    Also, if anyone has the number for the Samaritans can they please PM it to otto ASAP ok

    i dont even consider it a fair comparison. i think rooneys a level above him. and this is a good comparison in terms of position because they play similar positions. in all four games against madrid and milan i thought he was very poor. rooney stil has something to prove for me in cl but he is a level better still.

    Poldi and Rooney ARE NOT the same kind of players , its stupid to compare them.
    Poldi hasnt really settled in at Bayen after the big move , he will be more effective as he gets used to playing for a big club.

    arent they both second strikers that prefer to have a real striker ahead of them. also they are more creative and more tec. i would say they are a very much alike.

    No , Poldi is more of a striker while Rooney is more of a AMC/FC (FM) that covers back defensively , can play on the wings, he 's the playmaker/striker while Poldi is more of a pure striker/2nd striker.

    We got Schlaudraff(coming next season) , he can be compared to Rooney.

    Poldi and Rooney are incredibly alike IMO - maybe not in terms of the way they go about their game but in terms of their position and role within the team

    @Blut/Bilal

    Poldi wouldnt get this kind of abuse if it wasnt for Otto's hype and criticsm of Rooney. All we ever hear is zerooney and the prinz is amazing, blah, blah. If it wasnt for Otto no one would even talk about him on here.

    However the Otto hype means everytime the prinz plays as does nothing (which is pretty much every game this season) the knives will come out.

    Well, even otto doesn't make player to player comparisons like these that make no sense whatsoever. And otto is a glory hunter, he has been hyping other German players much more in the last few months, because Podolski had a disappointing season so far indeed.

    And "by getting your knives out" at this moment of time, like you call it, you are just asking for abuse of your darling Rooney in future. And oh boy, it will be worse than ever.

    Otto used to regularly start threads talking about how much better the Prinz was, do you seriously believe anyone would mention him in the same breath as Rooney. Everyone who watches football knows Rooney is miles better.

    Rooney gets more abuse on these boards than any other player, so it cant get any worse, besides he has scored 2 goals in a CL QF, part of the team who could win the treble, despite having the worst season at united. He will be back to his usual self next year, so all I expect is praise for boy wonder next season, I cant say the same for Lukas (who I actually, used to rate as a decent player until I came accross Otto)

    Didnt we agree that he doesnt play well for England because they dont really know how to utilize him , seems true so far seeing the opinions of the English posters.

    Of course Bilal, there is no doubt about that.

    But Rez will soon discover himself that inconsistency is a very normal thing for young players, and that this will backfire, despite Rooney scoring 2 goals in an international competition after 3 years.

    Poldi is still adjusting playing for Bayern , the pressure of playing for a big club isnt easy and the expectations were high after the big move , also Magath didnt help.

    Anyway both great talents though Rooney has performed more consistently in his league , and ending note IMO they are different players.

    @Blut

    If otto didnt hype the prinz as the great white hope, no one would ever criticise Lukas, the way he does at the moment. Otto started it, he gave posters unrealistic expectations of the boy, which he simply cant live up to. If the roles had been reversed and bayern won 7-1, with Lukas scoring 2 and Rooney playing terribly, we honestly would never heard the end of it.

    Besides the fact that both players are different indeed, there is no doubt that Rooney is a few steps ahead in his developement. Rooney joined a big club early, and has been formed and supported by a great coach for years now. Podolski however is in his first season for a big club, and had a hard time with the first manager Magath who let him rot on the bench most of the time. He finally gets support by Hitzfeld, but Hitzfeld took over just a few months ago.

    There is a reason why Podolski looks much more confident, and simply plays better for die Mannschaft than for Bayern. The same can be said about a lot of young Bayern players really, especially under Magath.

    I expect Podolski to learn from this, and to grow mentally. It hopefully will teach him humbleness, and I hope that Hitzfeld can continue to form him in the next few years. Talent alone is never enough, and believe me, this youngster is talented.

    The poll is fair eventhough Rooney is not a second striker. This shows what kind of talent he is. His greatest asset could well be what most people do not give him credit for. A good football brain. He is being used mainly for his pace and strength. I'm sure Ferguson knows this and by playing him on the left and behind the striker he will learn and pick up from Scholes, Giggs, even Ronaldo how to read the game and find space and control the tempo of a game more later down the road.....pirat
