Sammer raves about ManU-Milan Empty Sammer raves about ManU-Milan

    Post by Ä Wed Apr 25, 2007 11:43 pm

Germany's finest football brain liked what was on display

he praised the tactical/technical level of the game

and was impressed by the high number of PERSONALITIES present on the pitch

"there were also quite a few mistakes , but when you play with passion, this is allowed; we in Germany always think football should be mistake-free"

he also envies the continuity of foreign management; in Germany, managers immidiately get sacked when they don't deliver; foreign leagues tend to be more loyal to their gaffers and reap the benefits

Sammer also yearns for MORE personalities in German football

kernige Typen mit Ecken und Kanten

get rid of those favourite son-in-laws !!!

    very true

the former European Footballer of the Year is operating on a different level to the likes of Klinsi, Loew and Ziegenthaler

Thank God he is in charge of German Youth Development cheers

otto, you mysteriously forgot to mention that Sammer fully believes in Löw's / Klinsmann's / Siegenthaler's attacking philosophy, and fully supports the plan to introduce it to all of our youth teams, as we have done already. He just confirmed this today in an interview during the U21 match against Switzerland.

"Kernige Typen" die nur rumpeln können braucht kein Mensch, aber irgendwann wirst auch Du das begreifen.

wer sagt denn, dass ich RumpelTYPEN will ?

I want Sammers, Effes, Baslers, Klinsis, Loddars, Lehmaenner...

Lahm and Merte are brilliant technically, maybe the best in the world, but GOD , do they bore me as personalities ?

It's you who makes the difference. It's either style or substance in your eyes. It's either a great personality or good technical skills.

Mertesacker has more personality than all those wannabe "kernige Typen" like Huth and Madlung combined.

Sammer is of course right that it is not enough to have a good football education, that one has to focus on the personality of the youngsters as well. He is doing a good job, like most at the DFB these days. Been long overdue, after all the Cr@p the fans had to take during the Mayer-Vorfelder / Völler / Skibbe days.

Ballack should have gone to Inter.

Frings and Klose should move here as well, i would like to see them in A. Milan could employ a use for both, although it seems Frings is set on Juventus.

To be honest, I'll rather see Frings and Klose play for Milan than for Juve. First of all, they could play in the CL for you (good for German football), and second, you are not stingy as hell as Juve is.

And I don't want to see Klose moving to Bayern either. Allofs, our sporting director, just clearly said that he won't sell to Bayern.

technical skills in the body of a PERSONALITY

like Sammer, Effe, Basler, Schuster, Klinsi (as a player)....

    HUUUUTH is rubbish

Merte is excellent but no LEADER, no personality, he bores 95% of Germans out of their skulls

we can have a few of those, but need more CHARACTERS

German men have become sissies; alle weichgebuegelt

Merteasacker is 22 years old, and already a leader in our defence, which is the best central defence of the league. What the heck do you expect him to do? Run around the pitch with a red (ginger) head like Effenberg and yell at everyone? That's personality / leading for you? It's so freaking one-dimensional.

Players like Sammer or Matthäus are all time greats, no country in the world brings out players like them on a regular basis. And you have to give youngsters time to become great personalities, even Matthäus was not the boss on the pitch with 22.

At least we finally agree that we want both. Wehe Du versuchst mir nochmal etwas anderes unterzujubeln... Very Happy

Why in Germany would you push for personalities in football unless your trying to get noticed on the world stage for what reason, other than bringing in big business owners for football takeovers.... Suspect

Thought you were against this Otto.

Watched Lahm in those AC Milan games does he cross with his right foot and not his left?

His right foot is the stronger one, but he can and does cross with his left foot also.

Because of this, Lahm will most probably move to the RB position though, and Jansen, being left-footed, will be the LB of die Mannschaft in future. We played like this against the Czechs in the Euro 2008 qualification a few weeks ago, with Jansen being one of the best players on the pitch.

P.S.: Having a strong personality is as important for a truly class footballer as his technical / tactical skills, so Sammer is spot on about putting a focus on it in our youth education.

Why do you mean by personality here , leaders on the pitch Effenberg , Keane ? If you think every player can be that then you are optimistic , remember there are always other types who are very shy and dont like spotlights but are so consistant and do what the best at their position Paul Scholes anyone.

Hhe could have had a much bigger impact at Inter... but some of his comments were annoying, I doubt Moratti will ever go for him now.

If we lose Crespo to Chelsea, I wouldn't mind Klose. He does remind me a bit of Klinnsman, who is still a fans favourite at Inter.
