yes but Liverpool aren't as good at set-pieces as Bolton.

Will Ferreira be able to cope with Crouch and Kuyt though

Ill be totally livid if rafa puts riise or zenden on the left this time.

gerrard, gonzalez or even a crocked kewell will be able to torment whoever jose plays there. we need to play the way we normally do at home with pennant and finnan putting the crosses in from the right and hopefully we can expose their right hand side with an attacking midfielder and riise overlapping from the left (ie no bloody arbeloa). the wings are actually the key part of the match IMO for tuesday and will ultimately decide if we get to the final or not.

It must be Pennant or Gerrard on the left for me they would give Chelsea a much harder time than Zenden or Gonzales

    Reina

    Finnan, Carra, Agger, Riise

    Pennant, Masch, Alonso, Gerrard

    Kuyt, Crouch

would be the ideal team for me

I'd personally set it up like this, however this will definately not happen.

    Reina

    Finnan, Carra, Agger, Riise

    Masch, Alonso

    Pennant, Gerrard, Gonzales

    Kuyt

With the option to go to 4-4-2 with Crouch coming on for either Alonso or Masch with Gerrard slipping into the centre if we need to change.

It is a possibilty, but if Robben and J Cole are back, they are great at winning freekicks through there tricks and diving (they are masters at that, up there with Ronaldo for Portugal and Deco). It is a possibilty that they could work on it, but with the battering ram (Drogba) up front, it would be hard.

I was just saying that Bolton dominated the set pieces yesterday, which proves we're not the best set-piece team around.

When you have Ballack, Carvahlo, Drogba and Terry in the team you certainly are. Bolton are a good set piece team as well, offensively you always seem to create chances. Milan dont have the physical presence of Bolton so you would do very well against them.

    Sad

they have scored one goal in five CL matches against us yet people keep coming out with this as if it's a fact that chelsea will score

we could easily win the match 1-0 and win on penalties

we could easily win the match 2-0 and go straight through

chelsea could easily score 1 or 2 and give us no hope

the tie is still very much in the balance, especially now carvalho is out

COTR I would like you guys to progres as I think , IF we got to the final, we would have more chance of beating you than Chelsea and I couldnt bear to listen Mourinho go on about winning the CL with 2 different clubs, etc.

They have only scored 1, but in these kind of matches Chelsea always seem to score. If Liverpool score early, then it changes everything, but I can just see Chelsea winning, I hope I am wrong but I think it will be 1-1 or 2-1 to Chelsea.

Carvahlo is a huge miss, but Essien will be back which will be huge. I hope Mourinho doesnt play Essien as a centre back as he is wasting his talent in defence. It would be good news for Pool if Crouch starts against Essien.

I was thinking about recording the game so that I can watch it for half an hour or so before bedtime every night to cure my insomnia.

either that or I'll sell it on the black market as a secret cure for diabetics on a sugar-high

If Liverpool get the first , Chelsea would probably have to come out and attack , that would probably make it interesting.

When I think that we're having a bad season, I enjoy just sitting there and watching Arsenal crash out of the champions league to a team we walked all over, in four games in a row.

And, while curing your insomnia (yes, Liverpool vs Chelsea is normally very boring) you could also take time to reflect on the fact that Arsenal are not there flower

Every Liverpool fan seems to think that this type of comment really hurts us - it doesn't - if we'd even got beyond PSV we'd have just been deluding ourselves over the quality of player that we have. None of us were particularly fussed about getting knocked out to be honest. It merely confirmed to us that Adebayor and Baptista are not good enough players to succeed in the knockouts of a CL competition.

Before making remarks like that it may well be worth taking a look at the difference in the quality of squads that both us and yourselves had to face and also the number of injuries that us and yourselves had.

On paper, our squad looked great at the beginning of the season, but honestly, how many of our 2nd string players are better than yours? Zenden, Gonzalez, Paletta and Fowler have all been useless. Kewell and Garcia, our only wingers of any real quality have both been out for a large proportion of the season - a problem when our only viable attacking route is on the wings. We don't posses any defence-cutting players who play brilliant through balls or anything like that, so our wings are of utmost importance to us. We have no plan B. Defensively, we are excellent and have strength in depth, but that's pretty much it.

Alonso and Gerrard have had bad seasons too, so to make the excuse 'well it doesn't matter because you have strength in depth and we don't' isn't really a viable argument in my opinion. We've had a bad season, you've had a worse one.

How would beating PSV prove deluding? They're not a very good team, comparatively. That's like me saying 'well it's ok that Benifica knocked us out, because we would be deluding ourselves if we got further.' It doesn't make sense. We're a better team than Benfica and you're a better team than PSV.

You say that you don't have any players capable of playing defence splitting passes - what are Alonso and Gerrard?

You can't have it both ways CT - either your squad is brilliant or its not as good as you thought it was - I'd say the latter, though this will likely have changed by the end of the summer.

Regarding us - we've actually played well but been unable to finish - largely as a consequence of having Henry and RVP missing for 5 months of the season.

Henry IS our best player and RVP was our best player of this season up until he got injured. In addition, our world class summer signing: Gallas, has been out for 6 months!

No offence, but Kewell and Garcia are hardly comparable to Henry, RVP and Gallas

You rarely see Xabi or Gerrard play through balls unless they're directed towards the wings though. Without wingers, we're pretty awful up front, as this season suggests. While your injuries look much worse than ours, they don't change the way you play and attack much. You have more, well, better forward options than us. Kuyt, Fowler and bellamy have all failed to live up to expectations. Kuyts been ok, but nothing special. Without any decent attacking players, apart from Crouch, I still wouldn't blame comparative squad strengths for lack of form. You saw how shite our squad players are in the cup ties.

Anyway, back to the point. There's no excuse for losing to PSV.
