Parking the bus is a bit inaccurate though. Liverpool hit the woodwork twice through Sissoko and Riise. They dominated in periods.

Should be a good game and I have a feeling, despite Milan having better players, that Liverpool will win it. I can just see Milan having a big nose bleed like they did against Depor and in Istanbul. Also Liverpool will suffocate the midfield and Kaka and Seedorf wont have the freedom of the park, like when they played united. So the chances are likely to come to fall to the striker and Gilardino is useless.

I hope, I am wrong as I cant bear to hear the whole we've won it 6 times, Rafa is God etc. So Forza Milan.

A lot of people are tipping Liverpool to win it. I think you are also right with the psychological scarring. Let's see what Milan do.

Make sure you guys win, as much as I hate the arrogant Italians who always belittle English football, I hate the thought of listening to 6 times for the next year even more. I can see Milan going 2 goals up, Liverpool scoring and then Milan thinking, not again and falling apart. Anyway we will see, may the best team from Italy win.

IF Milan play as they did in the second leg against Man Utd, then we will find it difficult, however we are far more resilient defensively and Milan are also not at home.

I really think this game is totally unpredictable, even if Liverpool went down 3-0 we would still believe we could do it, because we have done it before.

Milan will definately have the pressure on mentally, hence all the media releases from their camp, they are obviously out to put the record straight, but will their heads be on winning the game of football? or beating Liverpool.

Two very different mentalities there i feel. Will be interesting.

Again very strange...read what Gattuso and Ancelotti have said carefully, not selectively.

To say it again, thus far only one thing has been completely unequivocal: what Gerrard said about Gattuso.

    <Ale>

The Enghlish media took the Gattuso and Ancelotti interview completely out of context,

Likewise with Gerrard, i havn't read the book, nor do i have any desire to, but i'm not interested in what he is 'supposed' to or has said, the game is played on a football pitch, not a press cutting room.

The media will of course look for the sensational story, let them get on with it, the vast majority of medias are pathetic in all countries, most football fans should be of intelligence to see this.

Anyways, this will be a more difficult game for Milan than Machester, simply because Liverpool are a more organised style rather than an open expansive game. Kaka - Mascherano will be a key battle, i'm confident in our defence, the only problem i see for us is we have to find the solution to break down a fantastic and well-organised defence. Liverpool have tremendous coach and a superb level of organisation, they could be capable of taking the match to penalties again, so we have to be patient and hope we can overcome their defence.

Be an interesting match, as COTR says, Milan may focus on 'beating Liverpool' rather than winning a football match, very good analysis, the psychological preparation for Milan is absolutely vital for this match.

Where are people going to watch the game?

It wasn't COTR who said that Pirlo, it was me Smile Ale

I'm really looking forward to the game, there would be no shame in losing to Milan for me, naturally i want to win however.

Kaka has been phenomenal this season for you guys, and he will need to be on the night if you are to break us down.

With Kewell back and possibly Garcia, we have a few more keys to try and unlock your defence, whether we will do is another question.

    What Gattuso said.

“I hope that those memories will give us the right boost to beat them. It’s not easy to forget that night, but it can give us all something extra to win it,” he said.

“The Final is an important match and my mind keeps drifting towards it. Do you want to know if I sleep? I sleep, but I also feel the tension. I cannot wait for the kick-off to arrive.”

One of the big stories after that comeback from 3-0 down was suggestions that the Rossoneri had been heard celebrating at half-time.

“It’s a shame that such lies were spread about us,” replied Gattuso. “That is the thing that hurt more than anything. A club and a squad like Milan does not do these things. Compliments to Liverpool for winning the trophy, which at half-time was indeed in our Via Turati headquarters, but it’s a real pity they lied about what happened in the break.

“Also, I don’t know how many other sides in the world would have come out from that night and returned to the semi-final and Final in successive seasons. We have to give credit to the club environment for allowing the players to recover and continue to work without excessive pressure.”

Ahead of their midfield duel on the pitch, Gattuso and Gerrard have been battling it out in the newspapers with the Liverpool man calling his rival “as scary as a kitten.”

“I’m certainly as furry as a kitten,” smiled the bearded Italian. “I don’t want to answer this sort of thing, as I am sure that the media blew those comments out of proportion. If Gerrard really does think that, then I don’t know what to do about it.

“I believe he is a great player who always gives 100 per cent. I can also say I don’t feel like a kitten, but rather a man who never gives in.

“Liverpool are a side that make you play badly and pack men behind the ball, so we have to do well not to get too irritated. However it ends, praise has to be given to both Milan and Liverpool for being back in the Final after two years. Back in January Rafa Benitez predicted this, but we never thought we’d be here so soon.”

Milan can be particularly proud to have reached their third Final in five years, as they were originally excluded from the Champions League due to Calciopoli and went through via the preliminary round. Inter midfielder Patrick Vieira accused the club, saying he could not understand why they were in the competition at all.

“After everything we proved in the World Cup about how good Italian football is, what more do they want, for us to fly to the Moon?

“Unfortunately scandals emerge more or less everywhere, as with so much money in the sport there is bound to be someone who wants to be sneaky. Italian football has done some great things on the field in recent years and so enough of doing us down.”

‘Rino’ was a key figure in Italy’s 2006 World Cup triumph and disagrees with Francesco Totti, who said before Roma’s Champions League quarter-final with Manchester United that for him this was more important than that night in Berlin.

“I don’t want to cause controversy with Francesco and perhaps he said that because his rapport with Roma is special, being their first quarter-final in a long time… but the Nazionale is another matter entirely.

“You cannot compare it to the Champions League. When I wear the Azzurri shirt and represent my country, it is an indescribable joy.”

    Nothing but respect.

Not that I remember of, Gerrard and Houllier had a fantastic relationship on and off the pitch and he makes that very clear, it's Fowler who slags Houllier off in his book! Very Happy

Bolo Zenden is facing a race against time to be fit for the Champions League final after picking up an ankle injury in training this week.
The Dutch midfielder was in contention for a starting place on the left side of the Reds' midfield, but manager Rafael Benitez has revealed it's now touch and go whether he'll be fit for the clash with AC Milan.

"Bolo injured his ankle in training yesterday," said Benitez today. "He's been treated by the doctor and the good news is the swelling is not that bad. We will need to see how it is after more checks today.

"It will be difficult to say he will be fit for the final now, but I wont say no yet.

"He is strong and determined and it may recover quickly. I still hope he will be okay.

"It will be a big disappointment for him and for us if it's not possible. Bolo can bring character, experience and tactical knowledge to the team.

"He is one of the good options for the left side, but now we must see how he recovers and decide what to do."

i´d have been amazed if he didn´t have alonso and mascherano in the centre mid, this is a completely different proposition to chelsea with their formation. gerrard from the right with reasonable license to rome and a more explosive left side player as this is an area imho which can be exploited by liverpool

    kewell- just back from injury

    auerlio - injured

    garcia - injured

the only other option would be riise with arbeloa at right back but he won't do this.

personally I think it will be

    gerrard.....xabi...mascha...kewell

but it could easily be zenden for kewell

I really think this game is totally unpredictable, even if Liverpool went down 3-0 we would still believe we could do it, because we have done it before.

Milan will definately have the pressure on mentally, hence all the media releases from their camp, they are obviously out to put the record straight, but will their heads be on winning the game of football? or beating Liverpool.

Two very different mentalities there i feel. Will be interesting.

Bring it on, the Italians are clearly feeling confident, let Gatusso and Ancelotti mouth of, we all saw what happened to Mourinho

    it's not all bad luis

Seedorf, who has previously won the Champions League with Ajax and Real Madrid as well as Milan, is more complimentary about Steven Gerrard, whom he regards as England's best player. "He is one of the best midfielders in the world, he is a great athlete, he has shown to be a great leader," said Seedorf.

The Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini goes even further. "I think that Gerrard is the strongest midfielder around at this time," he said. "I find it stimulating to play against him in the final. It will be a reason of pride for me. He can play well forward and at the back, he has defensive and attacking qualities.

"It makes him a unique player both for his technique and his personality. The match in Istanbul left a heavy impact, it was difficult to forget, maybe impossible to forget.."

Ye of course, Don't get me wrong I respect Milan a great deal I just don't buy into all this 'slag your oponents off before hand' attitude, maybe I was wrong with Milan, Mourinho was certainly guilty of it.

May the best team win, Milan are a fantastic team with fantastic fans and it is a final with two European giants, the way it should be

What's to Explain? Milan have won it 6 times, Liverpool have won it 5, the only team who has done better is Madrid, therefore two of the greatest teams in the history of the competition are battling it out in the final, that is what it's all about
