Liverpool start off brighter.

Excellent midfield organisation from Liverpool. Milan are having to work very hard to pass the ball and move forward, especially when going from defence to midfield.

Milan aren't picking up Pennant at all, one of these times he's going to make the right decision and make Milan pay...Kaka hasn't got in the game either, but that's because of the lack of flow from defence as I mentioned in the post above. Mascherano hasn't had a lot to do yet.

Liverpool's tactic is to get Zenden and Pennant to drop back and towards the centre of midfield to nullify Milan's attacking drive from Kaka/Seedorf/Pirlo. What Milan need to do is give it to Oddo and Jankulovski on the flanks more often, especially on the left where Pennant is often lost positionally.

The amount of space Pennant is being given. If he was a good player Milan would be in real trouble. Pool the better team so far.

Milan using their quality in midfield to try and find a way through...Riise isn't having a good game for Liverpool, who are now occasionally putting all 11 men behind the ball when Milan have it.

Poor match so far (although nowhere near as bad as *that* semi ), neither team deserve to win it because both are busy not losing the match instead of winning it...

It's a decent match, still a bit cagey, especially from Milan. I'm surprised to see their game so reliant on air balls...I do think they should use the flanks, but when they have it in midfield they're far too rushed in choosing the lofted option.

This match further proof that Chels and L'pool are two of the MOST boring sides in the world!

Mascherano is concentrating more on Pirlo than Kaka, which could explain why Milan aren't getting space to create moves from the back, and instead have to wait till the ball gets close to Liverpool's box to create danger.
