    Hrm... Hannover against Cottbus... One of my first football related memories (after the EURO '96) is that dreadful promotion play-off in which the floodlights died at some point.

    In den folgenden zwölf Monaten der Drittklassigkeit sicherte sich Hannover 96 souverän die Meisterschaft in der Nordost-Staffel und es kam zu einem der denkwürdigsten Aufstiegsspiele, die Fußball-Deutschland je gesehen hat. Nach einem 0:0 in der ersten Partie zu Hause gegen Energie Cottbus fiel im Rückspiel nach 74 Minuten beim Stand von 1:1 das Flutlicht für zwölf Minuten aus. Cottbus zeigte sich nach dieser unplanmäßigen Verschnaufpause der hektischen Partie als das nervenstärkere Team und gewann mit 3:1. Hannover schaffte erst in der nächsten Saison die Rückkehr in die Zweite Bundesliga. Der Wiederaufstieg ins Oberhaus des deutschen Fußballs glückt allerdings erst im Januar 2002. Trainer Ralf Rangnick, der im Mai 2001 das Zepter beim Club von der Leine übernommen hatte, führte Hannover nach 13 Jahren Abstinenz wieder in die Erste Liga, wo sich der Verein trotz alljährlichem Abstiegskampf etabliert hat.

    And btw, what's this with everyone suddenly talking about Stuttgart being favourites to win the title?! scratch No pressure at all for us right now, suuuuuuuure thing... (Tell that to Olli Kahn's new blonde of the week. Wink ) Especially with all those journos and commentators 'suddenly' discovering that, 'lo and behold, the squad is similar in some ways to the first Junge Wilde and has been playing some rather attractive footie this season.

    Ah well. The way the team deal with the pressure could be a sign of how next season might go, when we really are expected to pull a repeat performance (i.e. stay among the top four/five).

    Seriously though, this may be good for Stuttgart, if Cottbus have no chance any more for the UI-Cup, they may be less motivated in their last game against Stuttgart.

    So far, Stuttgart would lead Schalke by a point, while Mainz were 5points behind 15th place.
    Meira got his 5th yellow and will miss the game against Bochum.
    Schalke so far dominating, but not so much creating. Only one excellent chace, which Bordon missed. Nürnberg without any real chances so far.

    Kluge has equalised for Gladbach 52' after Rensing had made a brillant save against Kluge just 2 minutes before. Btw, Marco Marin has come as a substitue for the second half. It is his second Bundesliga appearance.

    Dortmund seem to be on a good way... Biggrin Wouldn´t it be fantastic if Dortmund would ruin Schalke´s Championship dreams... sunny

    But not an easy match for Stuttgart as well next week, Bochum is in a great form. Gekas is really on fire. I wonder why none of the bigger clubs were interested in him. I mean he already scored 20 goals now, Klose scored 25 last season with Bremen.

    However, I´m glad we have the third place for sure now. I really had fears we might even f@ck up the CL qualification in the end. No I can be relaxed while watching our last three matches, I don´t think we´ll have a chance to become second or first anymore. But we had so many chances this season, I can hardly complain now...
