Pre-season Friendlies thread

Not an Internet source.

But on Skysports they were advertising the Summers football, Copa America, Under 21 European Championship etc....

They advertised the Emirates Cup and the Amsterdam Tournament. At the bottom of the screen it said "featuring Newcastle Utd."

ah yes I remember, Liverpool are taking part in the Rotterdam Tournament ..

There are three English sides taking part inn the Asia Cup thsi year.

The official website has not said anything .. probably waiting for a Italian team to join.

In Italy, the BIG pre season friendly is the TIM Cup between Inter, Milan and Juve... thats the one we look forward for, unfortunately not covered by any channel!

Real Madrid will be participating in quadrangular tourney in Moscow. Lokomotiv are the hosts, PSV will be there too, the 4th team is yet to be confirmed.

The Saints are playing Lazio at home in July, should be a good game, i doubt i cbf to go though, friendlies being meaningless

Liverpool are involved in some sort of competition, the Asia cup or something?

I went to our pre-season friendly at Wrexham last year, was a good day out, and I got to see Bellamy's first goal for Liverpool, a moment of history...

It also confirms that Lazio are taking part in the tournament so the four teams are: Ajax, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Lazio. Arsenal are playing Ajax and Lazio.

Figures though that Arsenal would play - ajax and Arsenal are on good terms. And they've played this cup nearly every other year.

Should be good - will Henry play?, because Henry rarely plays preseason friendlies.

We have got invited to this competition a few times now, it is either us or Man Utd.

I don't know if we have a special relationship with Ajax though.

Thierry Henry should certainly play after being out for so long with injury and from what I remember he has played in the competition in the past. Sometimes Wenger likes to give Henry a easier schedule than the others if for example he represented France in a Summer event like a European Championship.

I hope we don't pick up any Red cards, Man Utd know all about that.

Chelsea are going to the USA again.

Playing LA Galaxy, Suwon Bluewings (Korean team owned by Samsung) and poss. Tigres (Mexico).

Also have a game with Rangers I think.

The International Event Partnership (IEP) is delighted to confirm the participation of three famous teams from the strongest leagues in the world to join host Ajax in the LG Amsterdam Tournament 2007. Arsenal, S.S. Lazio and Atlético Madrid will play on Thursday 2 and Saturday 4 August in the ninth edition of the biggest pre-season tournament in the world. These teams, with a combination of international stars and fantastic young talent, will decide who will take the trophy from Manchester United. Ajax first plays Atlético Madrid and on Saturday the Dutch Cup winners will encounter Arsenal in the Amsterdam ArenA.

How easy / difficult will it be to get tickets for that one??

Wouldn't mind seeing what shape Inter is taking for next season.... I am actually thinking of buying a season ticket, and a good 10 weekend travel deal with an airline... watching 10 games at San Siro would be nice!

Where do you live Bluenine if you dont mind me asking ? We havnt announced any pre season games yet but wouldnt surprise me if we play Inter if they are doinga mini tour in England.

They are playing Arsenal and Man United as well.

I live in London... am I crazy to think that an Inter season ticket is quite practical?

I think we also play ManU in the pre-season.... The CL final that never was
